I just saw this Jacques Doucet (WAFB channel 9 in Baton Rouge) tweet: Jacques Doucet @JacquesDoucet 1h1 hour ago #LSU situation - @C_Hanagriff thinks for first time ever or in awhile, Les Miles is in a bit of trouble. Next two games crucial with Alleva. My question -- how much "in the know" is Hanagriff? He hosts a sports radio show in BR, correct?
He's not, but like most talking heads, you throw enough darts and you're bound to hit something eventually. What he's saying now is Miles will not get the automatic contract rollover this year.
To all those who say we've turned on Miles too quickly, we were #2 and 7-0 two weeks ago - those wins have often been underwhelming, and it's been that way for years. Miles has been scrapping by on talent for a long while. We've been saying it for years, too, fighting the pumpers for glossing over issues. I've heard folks say how terrible LSU fans are. LSU fans aren't terrible, we've been patient and some of us are infinitely supportive. Criticism is deserved, it's been that way for a while, and the national treatment of Miles kind of reflects that. If Miles wins out, I dont know if I would push for him to throw it in, but the concerns would still be there. If we lose out, Miles might still be back, but I'd support a change. Hannigriff says money isn't really an obstacle; if that's the case... Can we get Miles an intern spot and make a move now?
He also works for LSU in some capacity part time. He is sometimes the other guy in the booth with Jim Hawthorne for baseball games and he does the play by play whenever Hawthorne is busy with a basketball game. He is probably around the coaches and players enough to get a good feel for the direction the wind is blowing.
And where is the short/intermediate passing game that the missing TE would be perfect for and would force defenses to play honestly and make it easier on #7? Where are counter, misdirection plays and screens? All of this has been hashed and re-hashed. And nothing changes.
are you really asking rhetorical offensive philosophy questions 11 years in. money is always a huge issue here. miles aint leaving town except by choice. at least not for another year. itll be interesting if les gets another year with his feet to the fire knowing he has to change things. then he may see how hes hamstrung his offense for so long by putting more than 12 pts on the board vs bama. but thats very doubtful.
