Seems to me like it's Lee's to lose now. Sure, Jefferson will see the field, but I doubt Miles makes him the starter as soon as he comes back.

If you think JJ has/had ANY shot as a pro QB you've DEFINATELY fallen off your rocker!

You are correct but could anyone of us throw it 20 yds down field with the zip needed to beat this

and there were quite a few times where they brought in JJ near the goalline in vital moments of the game.

Look I am not saying JJ deserves to start or even play significant minutes just that there are situations where having him around could be an advantage for LSU. JL has obviously proven himself and deserves to be the starter and in the game for pretty much all the offensive snaps. Having said that can't we agree that there might be some situations where having JJ available would be a good thing? :milesmic:

Like Red says – Les’ job is to win football games and that is what he is going to do.

I have no doubt that if JJ gets the legal mess cleared up, the suspension will be lifted – Les has made that clear. Then, JJ will get a chance to contribute in whatever way the coaches think is best – for the team – not any one player.

Ultimately JJ may get the starting job, but I’m pretty darn sure that over a month of missing practice is going to make JJ very rusty. Also, for the last month the entire offense has been practicing and playing a scheme altered weekly to play to JL’s strengths. Don’t underestimate the difference this makes.

JJ will have a lot of work to do before he plays in a game. For JJ’s sake and any chance he has to play, I hope he has continued to work out and stay in good shape – if not, his road back will be a very, very long one.

But right now – today, this weekend and for several weeks to come, whether you like it or not and whether you agree with it or not, the starting QB job is JL’s and it’s his to lose, not JJ’s to win.

this isnt about fair or unfair.

Les has to decide what is best for his team. if hes getting a lot of pressure from half the team to reinstate jefferson, he probably will. How much he plays is another matter.

Because, in the end his decision will affect team morale which affects the team's performance. He has to decide which decision most negatively impacts the team.

1-Leave the winning team as it and hope JL remains solid.

2-Reinstate JJ and possibly disrupt the cohesion this team seems to have.

So this isnt an easy decision.

But as long as JL is winning games and performing well, his decision is a bit easier. He can play jefferson sparingly.

Lose to WVA with a couple or three picks and what looks so clear today suddenly becomes a full-blown qb controversy. Such is the fickle nature of sports.

And Les' ability to manage men and balance egos surely will be tested.

I certainly do not NOR did I even in allude to it. I was responding to a specific statement about JJ.

It's amazing how many people here automatically, and without question, HONESTLY believe that just because a player is a starter for  , he's NFL material. :rolleye33:

I haven't figured out if those types are either, profoundly ignorant or utterly idiotic.

And just using that ONE completely ridiculous statement that JJ even remotely had a shot as a pro QB (even BEFORE his suspension), lets just look at 2 VERY simple examples:

    Matt Mauck and Rohan Davey.

JJ isn't even in the same category as either of those two players. Both Mauck and Davey could put up better stats throwing with their other arms (yes, that's a ridiculous statement in it's own right, but you get the point). And for all my admiration and high praise for Mauck and Davey, frankly, neither was nearly good enough to be an NFL starter and both were clipboard holders at best until the next crop of QB's came in.

I never said Davey or Mauck *were* NFL caliber. I just agreed that JJ isn't ;)
