We gotta support the players on the field. Talk about a domino effect, if future recruits start to see the fickleness of the fan base for support. I believe Miles remains on the hot seat. LSU is going to have to be patient, or hope Les Miles has seen the light bringing in better coaches, and letting them do their job.
I agree. But, if LSU finishes with a bowl win and a 10-3 record with losses to Bama, Ole Miss and Arky, I believe that he will not be fired after the season.
If LSU finishes 6-7 he won't be fired. It will take a minimum of two losing seasons now to justify firing LSU's greatest coach ever.
Miles is a great recruiter. However, his refusal to modify schemes (mainly on offense) to fit his recruit's talents and abilities has hurt LSU's ability to remain on top in college football's ever-evolving competitive environment. As an example, look at Baylor and TCU. With personnel far inferior to LSU (from a national ranking perspective), they have found ways to design strategies using their talents, rather than in spite of. So, my goal for next year is for Miles to finally embrace this truth, and positive changes will occur as a result, IMO.
My understanding is that Peveto will likely be out. The question is whether top-50 is sufficient, in my opinion.
Based on several of the Pro-Miles dumbasses spouting off about all of the returning talent, and a run for the NC next year... I would have to say at minimum, the goal LSU has to meet in order to retain Miles after the '16 season is to win the SEC outright. Anything short of that and he should be history.
My goals: 1. Challenge for the West every year. I don't expect to win it every year but we shouldn't be finishing fourth. 2. Be relevant in the national conversation each November. Doesn't mean I expect to win a NC or even make the playoffs every year, just be in position to be a possibility. 3. Be in one of the top 4 Bowl games available to the SEC. This means that with one SEC team in the playoffs, we just need to finish in the Top 5 of 14 SEC teams. That's slightly above average. No reason LSU shouldn't be able to do that. 4. Put a watchable product on the field. Miles has failed in this regard for the last 4 years. I still supported him through two of those years but last year the reality of Les Miles hit me. Now the question I pose is what do you pro-Les fans expect. What must he accomplish next year to keep your support. 8 wins? 4 SEC wins? At what point will you think we need a change. I already want him gone. He'll have to meet the above for a couple of years before I regain trust in him.
