Ego Ferguson and Freak Johnson both left early. Those are the only 2 on defense we lost early from last year. Honestly we could use them both, and Freak could have used this year to really put himself on the map and get back into a decent draft status. Ego we could really use. On offense we lost Hill, Turner, Landry, Beckham and Blue considering he was given another year of eligibility. As far as those guys are concerned they all did the right thing by leaving. Landry and Beckham wouldn't have come close to last year's production, and could have fallen a lot further in the draft, Jeremy Hill is a stud but make no mistake, having a passing game really helped him in the running game as well.
One more thing worth considering is that all of those guys made teams and are playing, so it wasn't the wrong decision for them. All the same, it doesn't help LSU, but I cannot blame them because the money was calling.
So true, but some have been told to return, an think they know more. Maybe Les should bring back some of these kids and let them tell why they are out of school and out of a job?
Oh yeah the offensive guys are contributing for sure. I haven't gotten to follow Ego as much, and I think Freak made a roster, but isn't playing much. I really don't think having Landry or Beckham would help this offense out too much, you have to be able to get them the ball consistently, maybe Landry because of his ability to work the middle of the field in short routes and Beckham on special teams but not having a guy right now that could consistently get them the ball would do them damage IMO if Landry and OBJ were still here. They absolutely made the right decisions, so did Hill and Ego for that matter, good point Stacey.
This is something that I see as a really big concern and it is across the NCAA not just an LSU/Les Miles problem. Why? I understand the "want" to make the big bucks but there really needs to be some sort of a montage video that is played for underclassmen. Showing all the people that left early after being told they aren't ready and what happens to them. I know that egos will eventually take control and probably lead them astray but I don't know how much effort is being put into trying to keep them. The ones that really need to stay. Damn kids.
Make one Shane, a montage, hell we can start here with a thread that's titled left too early, who would be in that video? Trev Faulk comes to mind, Freak Johnson, Spencer Ware maybe, Michael Ford possibly, who else my mind is going blank.
Mo Claiborne is another and there was another D back and I can't even remember his name but everyone knew he wasn't ready but left anyway. Said something about kids to support as the reason. Well too bad their asses are eating ramen noodles now because he is out of a job. I'm sure there are plenty and like I said, not just LSU, this happens across the board at all schools and it is a shame that more can't be done about it.
