Athletic Director/SID BATON ROUGE – LSU led all colleges with 38 players on NFL opening weekend rosters, the league office announced on Wednesday. The 38 active NFL players in week one put the Tigers ahead of Southern Cal (37), Alabama (36), Georgia (34) and Florida (33). LSUsports.net/nfl LSU also led the NFL in number of defensive tackles with six and was tied for most defensive backs with nine. LSU has two active punters in the NFL, which ties with Miami and Tennessee for the most in the league. LSU’s active NFL list will increase to 40 this week as former wide receiver Dwayne Bowe returns from a one-game suspension and linebacker Kelvin Sheppard has been added to the Miami Dolphins roster after getting released by the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago.
