The losing team didn’t punt at all. When has that ever happened in a SB? You rack up 600+ yds, don’t punt, and lose?
Agreed. Interesting note to consider is if Seattle runs instead of throws at the end of the game and Atlanta just runs the ball up 28 to 3 instead of getting pass happy the Patriots and Tom Brady would be 0-5 in their last 5 Super Bowls and 3-5 overall. Teams beat themselves against the Pats much as they do often against Bama. They count on it.
What's puzzling is why did Belichick bench Malcolm Butler. Butler may not be big enough to handle Agholar the whole game but he had played almost every defensive snap through the regular season and playoffs up to the Superbowl. Who knows if he would have made some play to stop any of the Eagles scoring drives in some fashion or other. Either on a double team on Agholar or maybe a sack or hurry on a corner blitz.
Oh, I'm glad Philly won. No dog in the fight really, but like most, I want whoever is playing NE to win. Just amazed that NE didn't punt, had 600+ yards of offense, and still lost. Gotta be a record?
