Wingman's last post at 1:20 am Monday. I am concerned about his fate. :(

I know...that crazy SOB was weathering it out down in Happy Jack. Hopefully he's OK, and if so, it's going to take some time for him to get back (both online and in civilization.)

What is distressing to me is that Wingman, MT, and others had an opportunity to get out, but for whatever reason decided to stay. I have a niece that stayed in New Orleans and I am waiting to hear something from her. Till they return, they are in my prayers and may the good Lord watch over and care for them. Then the gloves come off.

Remember where the storm hit with full force first. Buras, Empire, Nairn, Port Sulphur, Diamond, Bohemia, Happy Jack, Point A La Hache, Davant and Phoenix were totally annihilated. Nothing survived in these areas unless it was built of solid concrete and steel, and then drowning would occur unless it was built 20 feet above sea level. Lower Plaquemines was effectively and completely evacuated per authorities with only a handful of stragglers staying in Storm proof control rooms (Petrochem Plants). Anyone who stayed in a camp or home is dead now, probably never to be found after being swept into the marsh. Thirty plus foot storm surges and 175 mph winds over the marsh destroyed everything south of Myrtle Grove including all of those beautiful new fishing camps and all of those new housing developments below Jesuit Bend & Myrtle Grove. The Louisiana Citrus crop is in total ruin. Early reports from satellite views show Buras & Port Sulphur totally flattened like a war zone. Happy Jack, Diamond & Bohemia were not even visible from satellite and could not even be seen per reports. Water is still very high. The devastation is an incredible 50-mile wide swath through the marsh. The few who stayed are no doubt dead and will probably never get a proper Christian burial. I pray the Good Lord receives their souls. I heard stories about great storms in the early 1900's like this from the older folks when I was a kid, but I never really had a clue, until now.

That guy in Happy Jack is gone! Nothing survived that water and wind! So sad people don't listen and leave.

How many of our friends on Tigerforums did we lose?

And notice this, the national news hasn't even mentioned any of those places VauntedTiger just wrote about. New Orleans may truly be on the coast now. This is tragic; Katrina is the "big one" we were always warned about...

They actually did, Stacey! They talked about the Oil Industry being decimated by this storm. That's really all the mouth of the river is. Anyway, more than 99% of those little towns were evacuated safely and they're nothing compared to 1.3 million in GNO area. SE Louisiana including New Orleans may not recover from this disaster for many, many years. So sad the feds never heeded our wetlands cries. It's too late now!

Also, I know people don't even want to think about this! There's nothing stopping another one from coming to N.O. next week. Look at Pensacola! Popped twice in less than 1 year.

The Great 30 foot protection levees and wetlands preservation (including barrier island projects) must be pushed through for SE LA to survive. It's time for Louisianians to gather together and fight. It's time to let your voices be heard across America before the next BIG ONE comes. Excuse my emotion. I'm just sick of how our government blows their tax dollars.

Yeah but just think what it would look like if it had not turned to the left.
