Let me put it this way, our IT guys refer to it as 1,000-BaseT. So I suppose it is a gigabyte network.
Those of you who know me know that I don't need an explanation of the term "gigabit". I was correcting his original post which read "gigahertz". :thumb:
They are probably referring to your network data rate, not your internet throughput. Gigabit ethernets (802.3x) are common these days, and are very affordable for home/small business LANs. A gigabit internet spine would be extreme overkill, and extremely expensive..not to mention it would very likely require a complete renovation of all the surrounding hardware.
I think it's essentially a wash, with some seats lost during renovation, some added. Unless I'm wrong, the approx. capacity should stay just above 92,000.
