With the new West Upper Deck, official Tiger Stadium capacity will increase from 91,600 to 92,400, an increase of 800 seats. This will move us back ahead of Georgia, who expanded to 92,000 a few years ago.
It'll be interesting to see if we can break some attendance records next year. I believe the current record is somewhere around 93,500 from the Georgia game in 03. With more seats, some great home games & alot of expectations next season we could see that record broken again.
Well, from the inside, I can tell that there has been alot of improvement since the spring game. I guess the "rain" stopped slowing them down.
Thanks for the photos, Red. Man, it's almost mid-June. Nearing "crunch time".... Are they working round the clock? (or close to it?) If not, they need to get the main structure up, and add the lights, because before too long, they'll need to work round the clock!
Get this. Stanford has an $85 million stadium renovation going on. They are reducing their capacity by 30,000 seats! It seems they didn't like the empty stadium look during PAC-10 games. Stanford stadium Renovation
And neither does the university for that matter. In fact, they said it wouldn't be completed--but they did say that all the seats would be in place and available to use. I don't think anyone will be left holding a ticket without a seat--but I do think that all of those lux. boxes won't be completed and I would assume that those sitting in the newly built structure will be seeing a whole lot of unfinished plaster.
That's because even in the days of full house FB (85K) on the Farm, the fans ALWAYS have sat on their hands. They are almost ALWAYS outcheered by the opposing teams fans. I guess that's part of the price of being CALI COOL AND having 157 IQ's, to boot. Along with Dad's Benz.... That's the young bunch. The older crowd is FAR TOO rich (and suffering from cranial analitis) to be caught actually CHEERING LOUDLY for ANYTHING. They actually think that the 50K crowd will be louder than the 85K crowds: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/artic...D58851.DTL&hw=Stanford+Stadium&sn=001&sc=1000 Methinks they should try miking and amplifying the crowd.... :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Hey red, can you snap some shots today and post them? I hear they have started putting the prefabbed slabs on top of the beams.
Hey, philter, if those beams are going up, perhaps you could check on lsusports.net They have an updated webcam from atop the ticket office.
