I hate to be the contrarian viewpoint here, but these boards are typical of old school LSU. Instead of doing it right, tearing the whole thing down, and building a huge board with a new surrounding structure that is befitting a top national program, they cram a square peg in a round hole. These boards were made specifically to fit into the existing scoreboard structure. And before anyone says that the scoreboard structures had to match, we all know that in less than 5 years, the South endzone board is going away when they close in the upper decks. Now, I have not seen these screens in action, and they may be the best thing since sliced bread, but from an initial view, they look half-assed.
It's a huge structure and plenty big enough for the widescreen. We don't all know that. I'll bet you a case of beer that it won't happen in 5 years . . . or in 25.
You go ahead and hold your breath for that expansion. I'd be interested in seeing what shade of blue you are in 5 years. But go ahead and believe what you will. There will be a matching HD screen in the south endzone for the 2010 season, and the upper decks won't be connected anytime in the foreseeable future, much less 5 years. Personally, I think it looks fine. It's going to be absolutely great from where my seats are located.
