I'm curious what your point spread against Tulane was. LSU represents Florida's chance to get some respect back. They will come to play and if we play like we did this weekend, it could be a long night. The injuries don't help. I'm curious to see how we respond to our worst outing of the season. I don't see why we'd go vanilla for Tulane when we've already shown what we're capable of in previous games. I think Miles is reluctant to use Perilloux on a regular basis, especially when the game is in question. I hope we have a good week of practice and are ready to play Saturday. Florida isn't going to roll over and they have as many athletes as we do. Auburn is a solid SEC football team; losing to them isn't unforgivable.
Supposedly Dixon is extremely slow. He can catch anything, but he runs like a 4.8 forty. We should just put him at TE.
Marlon Favorite didn't play Saturday, is he hurt? He was replaced by Al Woods and they took the redshirt off freshman DT Drake Nevis. Two DT's out already is bad news.
I'm always concerned about injuries and how it can effect our season. I'm confident with this coaching staff and team. Our recent top recruiting classes are proving to be big. I've never witnessed a team this deep that can keep sending in top players into the game and make plays like I'm seeing. I have to guess the coaching staff planned from day one to play as many players as possible to be ready for injuries. It looks like that is paying off. The Florida game will be the true test. I'm guessing our injuries matched with Florida's young team puts us in a draw with them. I like our defense to take control of the game and give LSU the win. :thumb: :crystal:
If Flynn is 75-80% healed, he plays. Period. He is the 5th year senior and it is his last chance to play. He has earned it. Players play with injuries all of the time. His injury was not keeping him from being successful yesterday, so he played. I thought he did a fine job. WRs dropped tons of balls and the o-line looked lost at times. When the O-line left him high and dry, he took sacks instead of throwing it up for grabs (since the only thing that would keep Tulane in the game would have been a couple of INTs for TDs). I feel (and apparently the coaches do as well) that a 75-80% Flynn is better than RP. 258 yards passing seems fine to me.
Debatable. I keep wondering if Perrilloux is still partly in the doghouse. Flynn is the experienced senior, but I wouldn't say his performances since he's been injured are better than Perrilloux's. I realize the coaches see more than us fans, so this is only mild criticism on my part. Miles does seem to lean toward seniors, which is a debatable tactic in some circumstances.
Favorite was hurt during the SC game. I forget the specific injury but it was minor. He practiced toward the end of the week and was expected to play. Either he banged up his leg in practice again or Miles felt he didnt get enough preactice in last week. Update: http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070930/SPORTS/709300373/1006
One of the greatest WR's in LSU history, Eric Martin, was anything BUT "swift"... Granted, route running and great hands can make even marginally quick WR's look a lot better. If Dixon's problem is his speed, then he should focus really hard on running perfect routes.
