All five of us would be talking about baseball season..... The Title in 2003 spoiled many, brought in new fans, and they just can't handle life without Saban. (except last year when he lost they wanted to fire his ass also:wink: )
I think you have a problem comprehending the difference between a busted play and a player trying to find a hole in the defense. I'm sure Jimbo told Bowe, "Run the route I called, and if you're covered, just sit there and hope the defenders run away from you." It's not uncommon for receivers to continue to move around trying to find a way to get open. That's not because the coaches don't know what they are doing, contrary to what you seem to believe.
Dark Hornet Read the Paper, Bowe made the call to coach miles and told russell what to do If he was Double covered. Im not making this up> It is on the front page of the Daily Advertiser sport section
Here's the article from the Daily Fertilizer. Kindly point out where the phrase "busted play" is, danthetigerfanwhothinksheknowsitallbutinrealityisadolt. Gannett News Service -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press LSU receiver Dwayne Bowe catches the winning pass in the end zone to defeat Alabama 16-13 in overtime Saturday as Alabama's Charlie Peprah tries to bring him down. But it was altered at midstream, so the more accurate name of the play in retrospect could be, "Jam to Bowe," as in quarterback JaMarcus Russell to wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Or, it could be called the, "Get open, and I'll find you," play, which is basically what Russell and Bowe have been doing often for two seasons now. Whatever it was, it worked for an 11-yard touchdown pass to give No. 5 LSU a 16-13 overtime victory over No. 3 and undefeated Alabama in raucous Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday. Does it really matter what the route is called or how it starts? Not to these two. Jam and Bowe have been pulling such plays since Russell's debut last season. Russell delivered his first batch of fourth quarter heroics in the 2004 season opener against Oregon State when he found Bowe for a 38-yard touchdown pass, then ran for the two-point conversion and 15-15 tie. LSU won that 22-21 in overtime. That Jam-Bowe play did not have a name. It was an ad-lib. Bowe, a street smart Miami native, told Jam, a street smart Mobile, Ala., native, how he would get open before the play, and Jam said, "I'll find you." Bowe had a major role in the game-winning play call Saturday during the timeout before the third-and-six play from the Alabama 11 after the Crimson Tide had gone up 13-10 with a field goal on its overtime possession. "I told coach we need to do a Z Post because they can't cover me," Bowe said to LSU coach Les Miles, who was on the headset to offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher in the pressbox. "Coach said, 'You know what? We're going to run it,'" Bowe said. "And I told JaMarcus, 'Just find me. If they double me, I'm going to keep coming across. So just hit me in the hole.' And that's what happened." Sure enough, Alabama safety Charlie Peprah clamped down on Bowe in the middle of the end zone as the Tide played a zone defense. "When I came over, the safety was reading the play and came down," Bowe said. "So I just went behind the safety and settled in the hole." Meanwhile, Russell looked to his left for Bowe, who lined up wide left. When he saw that Bowe had changed his route he moved to his right, then threw a laser. "When I caught it, I caught it back shoulder and his hand (Peprah's hand) was on it," said Bowe, who bobbled it on his way down. "Then I just pulled it in and held on." Peprah almost made a touchdown-saving play. "I was right there," Peprah said. "My hand was on the ball. I just didn't rake it out. It was a play I should've made. I got there as the ball got there." Then it was over. "It's disappointing," Peprah said. It was Bowe's game-high seventh catch of the day, and he finished with 98 yards. Bowe leads LSU in receptions with 23 and in receiving yards with 421 yards. He was LSU's No. 2 receiver last season when Russell was splitting time with Marcus Randall. "I won't say I'm his main target, but I just tell him I know how to get open, so just heave me the ball," Bowe said. The touchdown catch made up for a drop Bowe had in the end zone against Auburn. "He did a great job holding on," Russell said. "At the same time he caught it, the guy was trying to rip it out. He's a great receiver. We've always worked well together." http://www.acadiananow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051114/SPORTS/511140333/1006
