If he was even in his mid to late 60's I'd say go for it but 76? How many young black inner city youth are going to want to play for him now?
Knight was fired 20 years ago because recruiting passed him by. It'd be much worse now looking for the cerebral inner city kid to run his motion offense. If he was overly set in his ways when he was 40 I can't imagine him now. That miserable bastard hasn't been back to Bloomington since they shit canned him. But he did take Texas Tech to a sweet 16 or two I believe before the infamous pat Knight took over.
I never understood why anyone ever wanted to play for him, being bullied by a notorious asshole who treats people like shit,.. why would someone volunteer for that?
He's a bully but all his ex players loved him that I recall. Not everyone wants to be raised by a snowflake. Many young men like to be challenged physically and mentally. It prepares them for marriage.
They should just join the Marines. At least they get out after a few years without having to give an ex all their money and stuff.
I'm following this basketball hire. Talks between LSU and Will Wade, coach of VCU. The little research I did, VCU plays in a small conference and has a pretty big budget. VCU has made the tourney several years in a row, their coaches have moved on and had nominal success or worse, I believe. Two factors that make it easy on a coach. Quite a few people like Wade as a candidate.
That makes two of us. I saw a few tweets about the Admin reaching out--through a third party--to gauge interest in Crean. EDIT: I don't know why I keep misspelling his name. Damn.
Not crazy about hiring a guy who couldn't succeed with indiana's resources, but that's just judging on the surface.
