whichever refs were involved with UF FSU last year officiated the worst game I ever witnessed and I watch too many games for my own good as most here do. The UT UF game this year was terrible from the clock not stopping to the 15 yd Unsportsmanlike penalty. The Kansas call this weekend equalled the UT UF game. I know we only remember the last few games but these were definite obvious terrible calls. Nothing can top FSU UF last year i don't think.
FSU UF had at least 3 bad calls on fumble plays, and they were all in the favor of FSU. Had they evened out, then at least it would not have been so bad. But that was the worst. The Tenn-FL call was the single worst call this year, hands down. The ref was looking right at the play when it happened. I hope that ref lost his job and is still unemployed.
3 were obvious with possibly 2 questionable others. Was so blatant because EVERY call went against UF.
found these old quotes. Matt Hayes on Instant replay and how it would have shown the Gators Beat The Semi's in the Swindle in the Swamp: Either pay up now, or pay later like Florida, which watched officials blow at least four fumble calls in a last-minute loss to Florida State. With a win over the Seminoles, the Gators would have gone to the Capital One Bowl ($5.1 million payout) instead of the Outback Bowl ($2.65 million). Now that's blasphemy. Miami Herald on ACC idiot refs: "But on balance, it was hard not to reach this conclusion: The last athletic event this poorly officiated featured Andre The Giant." Paul Finebaum, Bama homer, on ACC crooked Refs and the job Ron Zook did: He came within a whisker of winning at Miami and if you discount any one of the several absolutely criminal officiating calls by the ACC refs, the Gators would have beaten FSU Semi homer Lee Corso interviewed 12/11 on how ACC cheating Refs prove we need instant replay: "They need to have instant replay in the Sugar Bowl this year. After seeing what happened in the Florida State-Florida game, we cannot afford to have incompetency be a part of the national championship game. Matt Hayes, The Sporting News on Ref$u Abysmal Cheating Crew of refs: "The crew, headed by referee Jack Childress, made punching-bag Big Ten officials look like Rhodes Scholars and blew numerous calls in the game -- all of which went against the Gators." Kirk Herbstreit (From an Online Chat): "We can't go back and change the 5 or 6 blown calls that affected the outcome of that game. I said after the game Sat. night that was the best game in college football this year, but unfortunately it was also the worst officiated game I have seen all year. I don't know if I can ever recall so many game-changing blown calls. If you are a Florida fan, I feel for you " Mike Lopresti of USA today on the hand jobbing of UF by the refs: "The ACC head of officiating said Sunday he will study the tape. Just like bank officials do after a robbery." Stewart Mandel of SI on ACC cheating refs: "The Gators did get severely screwed right from the opening kickoff, when Florida's Dallas Baker clearly stripped FSU return man Antonio Cromartie, only to have the officials rule Cromartie was down." Mike Bianchi on refs screwing UF vs fsu: "You can understand refs missing 1 call, but 6?"
Looking at the replay, you could easily say the receiver flopped just as much as cory pushed him. Also, Wroten easily got a safety. The ball did not cross the line of scrimmage, thus intentional grounding. I seem to remember a very lucky Alabama beating LSU in '99 when a player was hurt on the last play of the game on the 1 yard line, and the refs decided to let the clock run out instead of calling an injury timeout. So in that case, that call defintely would have changed the game: Nov. 6 Alabama L 17-23 Tuscaloosa So you guys got that win in '99 we'll take this one. That game was easily a screwjob on us. Although you can easily argue we would of beat you regardless considering you have no depth and we owned your entire team the 4th qtr. So I say all is equal, at best.
You guys don't pay attention to mcdltstlouie...He is negative for negativity's sake...To use Sprio Agnew's famous line... mcdltstlouie is a, "nattering nabob of negativism"... One play gave us a win. It delivered the victory for us. There is no way to tell for sure, but he's "probably sure". That means he is "probably more psychic" than the rest of the population...
I came here to talk football, not trash and a quick review would show that I have not trash talked. I predicted that you guys would handily beat the sooners and you did. I came and congratulated you after your victory and did not make excuses. I will say it again............................See you next year in T town. I have always liked the sooners, but I have always liked LSU also........I pulled for you guys last year. I can never pull for the barners in a championship game.
You're right the most important thing was not the bad call(or lack of a call), and LSU did win this game out right and should have been congratulated on the victory, and I did so after the game. I have no idea whether Bama could have won the game if this had not happened, and if I were a mind reader or could see into the future I'd be making money on these games, and not just wishing Bama would win. From reading all the examples given by people on this board of bad calls that were made in the past; other people should also be upset and want to have something done about it. I think just for me personally the reason that it upset me the most was that there was a ref looking right at the play, or that is how it looked on the replay. The same was for the call with Florida and Tennessee, the ref was caught on film looking right at the 2 players and only called a foul on one. To me this is just wrong. I think the reason Bama fans have taken it so seriously(because believe me we have had our share of bad calls go our way, and those that have not gone our way) is because we are so beaten down(we're not blaming anyone for that, it's just a fact) and one more thing to go wrong is just hard for us to take.
ahhh civil debate with some bammers. quite refreshing. While you see this game and how you've lost your fair share of calls, many SEC fans have memories like 'elephants' and remember a decade or so when Da Bar was in every refs pocket whether you guys knew it was happening or not. Just LSU itself has tons of screw job memories etched in their mind just because it was Alabama. If you doubt the validity of any of it, just check out gaston issuing a freaking apology to that questionable call even BEFORE Little Shula filed a complaint. WHAT A FREAKING JOKE!
Bama, you needed the win but we wanted the win. You can try again next year, these games happen yearly, neat how that works huh? you lost, fair and square, the missed call did not count for 16 points, move on with your life. ( drive on through ) good luck see you next year, and :geaux:
