It is basically an arms race in the SEC. In order for our atheltic department to stay competitive, we have to raise prices. It sucks, but the demand obviously outweighs the supply.
I'm not mad at LSU for the increase in prices, nor CFB in general. It's the way of the world and the only way to keep up is by following the same pattern. We all want LSU to be able to keep up with the Jones in our entire Athletic department, heck just look at the expectations for the baseball and basketball teams. We all want LSU to be the best in the SEC and one of the top 5-10 in the country obevall. So I really have no gripe about this. I'm just so disappointed that this is the way of the world, that it has come to down to having to keep raising fees to in order build these Taj Mahals of sports. I wrote a post about 2 years ago decrying all of the SEC teams building new and better facilities everytime someone else builds some a little better, the arms race is getting way out of control. I stated then that it would be great if they could somehow cap the building of these facilites whereby they let the have nots catch up with the haves and then let all of the programs operate on a level playing field. I still feel that way but know it is not realistic and will never happen. I am just very disappointed that because of my income level I have not been and will most likely never be able to do for my sons what my Godfather did for me in taking me to so many LSU games, including traveling all around the south to see our Tigahs play football, baseball and basketball. He didn't need to be well off back then to do it, just lower middle class. The advent of ESPN I guess is a good thing in a way as at least he can see LSU a lot, although I really do believe that listening to games on the radio is really what cemented me into becoming a diehard LSU fan. The only way I could get them to listen to games on the radio in this day in age would be to put them in the car and drive around the block all night.
