    Nope. We never had OBL captured. In 1996 bin Ladin was just another islamic terrorist, not Public Enemy #1. He was living in Sudan at the time and Sudan wanted to negotiate with us to trade bin ladin in return for decreased US pressure on them because of their heavy terrorism support.

    The US policy, then and now, is not to negotiate with terrorists. So Clinton ignored the overtures. We wanted the Saudi's to take him back, since he's a Saudi National and a criminal there (where they have a quick death penalty). But the Saudi's, as usual, didn't want to create any internal dissent and refused to take him. So bin Ladin escaped to Afghanistan, where Clinton twice tried to kill him with cruise missille attacks after the Embassy bombings in 1998.

    After Obama's bombing of the USS Cole, Bush failed to retaliate and did not address bin Ladin until after 9/11.

    The Cole bombing occurred on 10/12/00 and Bush was sworn in on 1/20/01. I guess Clinton said "Phuck it, Let George handle it."

    Would Red be that critical of GoBama beginning with day one of his alleged presidency?

    Its a shame that conservatives never had a candidate. Despite what Red said, Palin is probably the only person the majority of conservatives did feel comfortable with running the country. She is WAY more popular than the slanted media wants to give credit for. Just look at ratings on TV wherever she appears....better than BHO's!

    Republicans never were filibuster proof, and let's pray that doesn't happen for the Dem's. I am too pressed for time to pull this up, but let's look at economic indicators since Jan 06. Everything started to go to hell then. They have the worst approval rating of all time in Congress, and the Republican candidate did not have the stones to point this out, even though he was inexplicably tied to Bush. It looks like BHO will win tomorrow. Let's hope its a landslide. Crisis causes change, and once he completely fails (and he will), after the chants of his failure being "Bush's fault", then the only hope is that conservative prinicples, and those of our Founding Fathers will prevail as it did in 1980. I just hope there is something left of this country to save....:usaflagwa

    The USS Cole bombing took place one month before the election. It was January before it was determined that Al Qaida was responsible. George Bush was President at that time and it was 9 months until 9/11, during which time, Al Qaida was not hit.

    1. The Cole bombers died in the blast and it took time to learn that Al Qaida was definitely responsible.
    2. Lame duck Presidents usually do not wage war in their last months, anyway. They leave it for the new man, as is proper.

    I plan to be critical of whoever is President. Obama is not perfect and there will be much that I don't agree with, I feel certain.

    You expected Bush to win an entire war in 90 days but Clinton couldn't handle one bombing during his final month or so. That's fair treatment. It was also less than eight months until 9/11.

    It's hard to find time to be President when you spend your last few months granting pardons and getting a little in the Oval Office. :hihi:
