Again it isn't personal power but the accretion of the power of the executive to act without check from normal political process. BHO appears to believe he is smarter than everyone else and everything woulld be better if he didn't have any opposition. His gathering of that sort of power is what I meant. Doesn't that worry you HMMMM?
In my view that is the power we as individuals should fear whichever party is in the White House.

Well stated. The power you allow your guy to acquire today will be used by the guy you think is a moron in the future.

Semantics. If you go under, you have been impacted.

Funny, you think I criticize Bush for the bailouts and the local Liar thinks that I defend them. Both of you have got it wrong, actually. I did not excoriate Bush, I simply said that you can't call his TARP Act a Bush/Obama Act. Nor did I endorse the TARP, as Liar imagines. I said that the nations best interests demanded that some action be taken to prevent an economic catastrophe. All rich nations protected their banks. But I stated clearly that I did not endorse the solutions that TARP used to get there.

What? Has the Congress and the SUpreme COurt disappeared? There was no improper power grab involved and no lack of checks and balances. Just some politics that you disagree with.

based on what? This sounds like a simple political disparagement. What politician doesn't this describe?

That is what I'd call a paranoid fear. I do not worry about this at all.

Not really and the choice of words are unique.

If I tell you my business went under, you will think it has failed. Not simply, "impacted."

Another way of saying money for special interests. What other "action" could you mean?

Question did you worry about the laws passed after 9/11 limiting our rights (I did)? Do you worry about the way the presidency gets more involved in local issues and uses the power of taxes, investigation and other tools to limit our speech? Do you worry about the exercise of the drone attacks killing American citizens without trial?
This is not specifically aimed at BHO. This is bigger than one man and has been developing for many years. If you disliked it when Bush did it you should have the same concern now. As Klute said "The power you allow your guy today will be used by one you think is a moron in the future.

Some of them. Others I felt were justified. I expect the ones that limit us without clear benefits will eventually fall by the wayside, as we would expect in a proper democracy. Nothing is set in stone and we can fix awkward laws as we go.

I have not found my speech limited in any fashion by taxes, federal investigations, or any other tools. Can you be specific? How has you free speech been limited?

Not one goddamn bit. What American citizens? The people in question were former American citizens who had relinquished their citizenship. When you relinquish your citizenship it is irrrevocable. You do so if you:

    1. Declare allegiance to another country.
    2. Take arms and fight against America.
    3. Renounce your citizenship before an authorized US official.

These Al Qaeda terrorists certainly did #2 and probably both #1 and #2. That's all it takes. No American citizens have been targeted, only Al Qaeda terrorists involved in military action against America.

The way I put it right here in 2006 was "Don't advocate executive power for George W. Bush that you wouldn't like to see in the hands of Hillary Clinton."
