true but he is right. i think it is disingenenous or perhaps just stupid to always want everyone to vote. would you encourage nazis to elect their man? the goal is good governance, not maximum voter turnout. political consultants will advise their candidates to campaign in a way that suppresses turnout if that means less of the devoted form the other side are energized. where is the inherent value in more voter turnout? its just a received wisdom thing that people repeat.
an occasional one to a funny post is acceptable because smileys are very lacking on this board. as are user friendly menus, options, editing, cool mods, etc.
i dunno i feel like kyle and red are excellent mods. cajun sensation has the emotions of a nine year old homosexual, but he is only 1 of the 3 i ever deal with
it really doesn't. it just exposes your lack of intellectual curiosity and/or political understanding. you essentially discredited our entire system of government because you don't like the way things are going.
bro, democracy is a great system, the best ever, and our paticular version of it was designed by guys who are almost unimaginably skilled at political theory to the extent that i cant imagine they could exist today. but it is not perfect. clearly this country would be better if only kyle and shane and red and i voted. (red would be there to write up the dissents that we would vote down)
I agree with this. I just wanted you to clarify who I was getting at. Oh it really does. Your inability to see it is ironic in itself. Our entire corrupt system absolutely sucks and un-objective voters are the impetus. Its clearly not the efficient model our founders intended. its a mockery of it.
The only way we will balance the budget is to grow the economy enough so that revenue from real growth creates the balance surplus . Then we need to control spending of all types. Have a tax system that rewards risk and investment as well as demands reasonable contribution accross the board. THAT is what happened in the 90's. Clinton AND the Rep congress worked together to curb the GROWTH of spending. They were also fortunate to reap the wealth of a staggering growth spurt. We need to find a way to allow our economy grow while we manage our budget.
tirk is right. when you go about the world and your acquaintances talk about why they prefer obama to paul ryan, they will rarely discuss it like that youtube rap of hayek vs keynes. but they should.
I do understand that under the government definition entitlement does mean government expenses that must be paid in all circumstances. I am not disputing that. I should have said as much to clarify. That said, thank you for making that clarification for me because I was indeed talking about the latter. definitely sucks that you are getting jipped on your ss
I think your post does more to justify voter suppression than anything else. The more people who vote the better. Yours is a very cynical perspective and one that jives with the current Republican agenda. This is a democracy. voting is the most basic right that we have as Americans.
