who says voting is our responsibility? i say as an american i enjoy the freedom to not waste my time voting. i actually happen to enjoy the political process purely as an a fn intellectual exercise, so i always voe. but i am aware that is a complete waste of my time, as my vote does not matter and never has.

I have liberal friends who believe that conservatives wake up each morning trying to find new ways to pollute the environment and go to bed each night trying to conceive new ways of ensuring women and minorities are oppressed and I call them out just as quickly. When you turn 65, or whatever the age is, you will start collecting your benefits based upon how much you paid in. For those who never worked and paid in nothing, they will get nothing. Like I said before, first let's make cuts to medicare and defense spending and see how much more we need to balance the budget, then let's make it fair and split it up so that everyone is paying their fair share. What I meant was that taxes should be raised immediately on the wealthy because it will affect them the least. The middle class and poor cannot take a tax increase until unemployment is better, but they should do their part as well when the time is right. Thank you. I defend Obama because he gets a lot of unwarranted criticism but he has not lived up to the expectations many people had for him, including me. I will vote for him again but only because the Republicans have offered no alternative. I genuinely hope that the Republican party will get their act together after this election and make the necessary changes so that they are more viable on a national level moving forward. To do this they will have to be more accepting of the hispanic population and stop embracing so many religious perspectives and, mostly, start acting like REAL fiscal conservatives. IMHO
who says it's not our responsibility? what is our responsibility as citizens of a democracy if not to vote? there are a lot of people who are simply disenfranchised and stay at home and that really is too bad. i have never considered voting a waste of my time.
voting is a waste of time. your vote doesnt matter. the great thing about freedom and democracy is that we have the freedom to not be a part of the political process.
everyone who votes thinks they are engaged and informed. Unfortunately the majority voted for the huge failure in office now and will again. Until people learn to see what matters and be objective instead of being spun like a spool of yarn in a sweatshop full of 8 yr old chins by the talking point idiots, nothing will change. this thread is a great example of the many politically 'engaged' people making terrible decisions.
