Well heres my 2 cents worth...MF has a more accurate arm and a lot more experience...old saying here ( "ya dance with the one that brought ya" ). To be sure I,ve seen him make some stinky decisions from time to time, but you have to give opposing defenses some credit for some of that. Im confident that RP will be another great Tiger QB in time, to be sure, he,s showing flashes of that now, but he needs more time and experience reading coverages and working on passing accuracy. ( In particular the long passes that require more efficient timing ). His short throws look good, but he,s got a ways to go on the deeper balls. The play time he gets this year will go a long way to improving both. Coach is using him as more of a scrambling threat at this point, its obviously working and keeping defenses off balance, with a mix of both QBs. Lets face it, it gives us the best chance to win. This will be "His" team next year. Im confident he,ll be giving our opposition fits. But this team, this year, bye and large belongs to MF, and he has done more than enough to deserve it.

    LUV DEM TIGAHS!!!! LSU!

You know, I love the cojones of CLM but one thing that really irritated me was that whenever RP was in he always ran the option or some form of QB sneak...I was always left wanting to see the boys arm. I've heard numerous accounts of RP having more speed than most and a better arm than even JaMarcus but all I've seen, and I love it, is the running...with this sort of threat CLM shoulda had RP fake a run and then chunk it for a huge gain.

Any1 agree or am I just delusional?

I agree I'm kinda tired of just seeing him come in and run. He has a great arm so why not use it. I was really expecting RP to do the play action pass in this game which would probably have been an easy TD since everytime he came in FLA put almost everyone in the box.

Didn't you watch the Middle Tennessee game when he was 20/25 for 298 yards and 3 TDs, he was 5/5 for 84 yards and 2 TD's against VT, 2/3 21 yards and a TD against Miss St; so I don't know what you are talking about.

I know you posted before the UF game but we had RP in there on 4th and goal and he put it in. RP looked awesome agasinst UF, he was making the right decision on all of his option runs, he held it when he should have and pitched it when appropriate. I was blow away by his calm at the line recognizing the UF defense and calling it out. I have read on this thread how Flynn has so much more experience but he has started just 6 more games than RP but granted Flynn has logged way more practice and film time over the years, but Flynn has looked shaky on some passes this year and i see where Destrahan is coming from, though i don't agree with him because this defense just needs a Trent Dilfer and we don't need RP's talent starting the game, he is perfect doing what he is doing in different situations. Everyone has said show the stats to support Destrahan's statement, when that is an unfair request because there aren't enough stats to support an argument for RP, its just a feeling you get when he is in the game and you get excited because you know he can do so much and he has showed that he can make the plays. But my head tells me that Flynn is the guy who will make the right choices and continue to win. But if Flynn went down (knock on wood) I have complete faith that RP could run the offense.

I am in complete agreement with this statement and I wanted to smash my TV so I wouldnt have to listen to the commentators of the Tulane game continually saying that RP should be in the game, there was no need to bring in RP this is Flynn's team and Les Miles let everyone know it. The game was always in hand and Flynn needed the time to work out the kinks after not playing against MTS and having to play in that **** during the USC game.

The stats are decieving because the situations in which they came are completely different but here they are. Also The stats don't show what the running backs did while each was in the game and that might be interesting to see yards per play gained while each was in the game. Like I said these mean nothing because we are wining and thats all that matters but sheds a little light on Destrahan's sentiments.

OK bud...here's the deal. If you take my posts in context before you quote them...it would help. I was also trying to help Destrehan out, by pointing out that if he'd just post the stats, he'd have a better argument. BUT!!!!!!!!! At the same time, I was saying Flynn should start.

Although Perriloux did play well Saturday night, he showed why he is NOT the starter. Twice...TWICE in the second half, he was inserted into the game, and wasted SOOOOO much time audibling or faking the audible, and LES MILES had to call time out from the sideline to save a penalty for delay of game. I guess Perriloux didn't know about that little clock ticking down to 0...and that it costs us if it actually hits 0. Had Les Miles allowed the clock to hit 0, LSU probably doesn't win this game...as this happened on scoring drives that LSU had momentum galore on...and penalties would have KILLED the momentum.

That is why RP isn't the starter, IMHO. People have said it over and over...and I guess it sounds like rhetoric...but Matt Flynn is a better game manager. And if Lafell learns to catch, Matt's #'s would look a LOT better than they do.
