That's very subjective and if you are basing your argument on such a broad statement without even knowing his stats, it would make me question if you really feel like that, just trying to stimulate some debate by being contrary........or just repeating what you've heard someone else say with a lack of knowledge to back it.

I don't mean that to take a swipe at you but RP's "Stats" would lend strength to your argument (Though I disagree that he should start).

Actually, it may not be fair to compare stats cause they haven’t played the same amount of time and not against the same level of competition- the more attempts, the less likelihood of maintaing the strong numbers.......simple math probabilities.

Actually, I don’t know that it’s ever “Fair” to go on stats, though we do rely on them a lot in the game of College football; however, looking at the “Stats” would reinforce what I said about RP’s strengths. What it doesn’t measure is the intangible I mentioned- leadership. Well, actually, the fact that we haven’t lost a game he’s started does.

    Stat-wise:
Flynn is 53 or 94 in passing, for 673 yards and a qb rating of 122.8.
Perrilloux is 28 of 37 for 402 yards and a qb rating of 215.0

Rushing, Flynn has 21 yards on 29 carries; whereas, Perrilloux has 143 on 25 carries.

Bill Walsh (who knew a thing or two about QB's) said on more than one occasion that Josh Booty was by far the best High School QB he ever saw. How did that translate into the college game?

Marino, Leinart, Aikman, Montana, etc. etc. all have/had what was considered to be average at best arms.

Too smal of a sample size to truly determine this.

Give Flynn credit for the half dozen or so drops he's had the last 2 games, and he's completing over 60% of his passes (not bad numbers). One of those games was played on one leg in the slop against the best pass defense in college football.

Not in the 40. Flynn consistently puts up better times than Perrilloux does.

Flynn has been our QB for 2 blowouts of top 10 teams (3 teams with top 10 defenses), is undefeated for his career. 28 pts is the fewest LSU has ever scored with him as the starter. In case you're wondering, That's 4 times as high as JR's career low, and Matt Mauck had a game where the offense didn't score at all (Skyler's punt return was only score against Florida in '03).

I was thinking to myself..."Self, why doesn't this guy just give 'em the stats"? Finally, 'Tiga came to his rescue! Only one thing...what about TD's to INT's? Again, you would find RP has much better numbers in that dept. too. Anywho, I think there are things behind the scenes that MOST of us don't know about.

Anyone know why RP didn't play at all in the first half against Tulane?? Anyone?? Beuhler?? Interesting...when you really think about it. I mean, Flynn is struggling, and ESPN2 keeps showing RP on the sideline with his arms crossed. The first half ends, and Miles is interviewed...and asked if we should see RP in the second half. He says something along the lines of "I think we'll see him a good bit in the second half". IMHO, he was on the sideline for the first half for some sort of disciplinary reason. I have no FACTS to be this on, so I won't elaborate further...but there has to be a reason.

I believe MF is the starter in part because of the fact that he is a 5th year senior...but another part of it is completely RP's fault...and he'll just have to do with it...as will those who think he should be the starter.:thumb:

Very interesting Fish. You may have made an astute observation or be a complete bonehead but I will give you major props for suggesting it as a possibility. :hihi:

I would have heard from someone if he was in trouble with Miles again. So I dont think that was the case. He looked frustrated because he expected to play early and he was getting impatient, IMO.

IMO, Flynn played the whole 1st half to keep his confidence level up so not to worry about getting pulled when mistakes are made. I know you cant blame him for the poor Oline play. We will see the old Flynn back to his normal self this weekend.

Funny you should mention that... I haven't heard anymore on it, but FWIW on the score 1210 they were saying he stayed out too late the night before the game and Miles was punishing him for that.

RP will be one of our greats, but he needs to be polished up a bit and he needs to stop doing little things to agrivate Miles. He is a tremendous raw talent but he needs to grow up a bit. Simple as that... he'll get his turn.

I think if we didnt have our great defense we would have a different QB. But as long as we don't have to score a ton of points, we'll have Flynn in.

    Career numbers:
    Flynn 13 TD's 4 picks
    RP 6 TD's 1 pick

I wouldn't say they're much better. Besides, the laws of probablity tell us that when he begins to attempt more passess, the int's will catch up. If you throw 3 passes in a game, you're less likely to toss an int than if you attempted 23 passes.
