If Visor Boy leaves the Skins anytime soon it won't be by choice, it will be because the egomaniac internet billionaire owner of the Redskins Dan Snyder fires him. I wish somebody would hire me for $5 million a year for 5 years and fire me after 2 years. Whether Spurrier's approach will prove to work in the NFL will depend upon the players he has to work with and the amount of time he is given to get those players.

How can you compare Saban to Spurrer? Saban is a class act. The only common thing between them is their last name begins with "S"

I don't think Spurier will return to the SEC. Just don't let Spurrier end up at Texas. With that recruiting base, he would be back to his old style in no time.

Could you imagine the meltdown that would occur in Knoxville??? Replace their coach with Darth Vader?!?

Spurrier's "Can't spell Citrus without 'UT'." comment would come back and bite him in the arse!

I still think Spurrier will land in Clemson. They have the fan-base and they will be willing to shed top-dollar for someone that can help them compete, and beat teams like FSU, VT and Miami.

Wanna beat the 'Noles?? Hire a former "Nole Killer".

Now I've heard it all. Listen, I like Saban and the staff he has built....it's becoming a fine program under his leadership and he deserves the lion's share of the credit for the re-build. But don't make the mistake of thinking that ANY coach in the SEC today is in the same league with Spurrier. Doesn't matter which category you want to compare, Spurrier would be considered THE top coach in collegiate football should he elect to return.

And don't kid yourself.....there's not a single AD in the SEC that wouldn't jump at the chance to hire Spurrier, especially knowing the level of athletic funding and football credibility he brings. The last time I checked, UF has the largest , combined Athletic Program budget of any school in the conference or in the Southeast.

It will be be very interesting to observe the "Spurrier Sweepstakes" when he decides to begin talking to prospective universities.

    Terry,

Out of curiosity do you have a wife name Dawn?

As for the Spurrier to UT rumor it is false. That has been swirling around on the net for months now just like the rumor that Fulmer will resign at seasons end because he is sleeping with a UT coed.

As for Spurrier and his prolific offense being washed up during his final year(s) at UF, what a damn joke. UF finshed #3 in the polls during Spurrier's final year at UF in 2001 and beat Saban and LSU 44-15.

    http://www.gatorzone.com/football/history/2001/review.pdf

Spurrier would have had Grossman in 2002 and could have just as easily signed Leak. Leak under Spurrier's tutelage would have been downright scary.

He didn't leave the cupboard bare when he left and without question would have had a better record than Zook the last 2 seasons. You also would have lost by a much larger margin than 19-7 a few weeks ago. Zaunbrecher couldn't hold Spurrier's jockstrap, or better yet visor.

If you want to try to slam Spurrier atleast be intelligent with your arguments.:dis:

    Fightin,

You give respect where respect is due, most Tiger fans on here don't. This LSU team isn't the LSU of old under Hallman and DiNardo. I TRULY thought this LSU team was the real deal, I thought ya'll were unbeatable this season. There is no excuse for the Florida loss, NONE, ya'll are supposed to be better than that now under Saban.

You would probably beat us in a rematch if we were lucky enough to be voted into the SECCG, but we aren't. But in the same breath, Florida will be a better team in December just as LSU will be. You know Leak and our young defense that shut you completely out will be playing better come December. If ya'll were to make it to the Sugar Bowl you can't honestly say you would beat the Oklahoma juggernaut.

Are you saying Saban's NFL schemes would have stopped Spurrier this year, because his NFL schemes didn't even slow Spurrier down in the past.

I don't see how my statement was horseshit. Had Spurrier been on the sidelines for the Florida/LSU game a few weeks back the score would have been different. A "flat" LSU team against a Spurrier led offense would have been embarrassed.

Hell any other offensive coordinator in the country would have scored more than 19 points on you, we both know Zaunbrecher is a joke. My point was you're lucky it was Zaun on our sidelines. It doesn't matter how flat or badly coached LSU was, any other offensive coordinator would have torched you that day. We marched down the filed on you at will with our true frosh QB but our inept offensive playcalling couldn't convert once in the redzone.

Spurrier was a good coach, not a great one. If Stoops stays at Oklahoma for as long as Spurrier was at UF, Stoops will far surpass what Spurrier did while at UF. Stoops is the total package. Spurrier's biggest fault was his damn stubbornness. He could have accomplished a lot more if he hadn't been so stubborn.

Sure LSU played flat in our game, and so did Florida. You played with your "C" game and so did we. You had better coaching and players yet lost. Bad coaching, bad calls, and playing flat are all part of the game. Your backs were against the wall and so were ours, but whose coaching and players stepped up to the plate when it counted?

Saban has been at LSU long enough to overcome those factors. Spurrier was at UF long enough to overcome them but he didn't. Very few coaches and programs ever overcome those factors. Saban may very well dominate in the SEC one day as Spurrier did, but he won't dominate in the NCAA just as Spurrier never did.

Spurrier always choked (Usually to FSU) when it came to finishing #1 in the NCAA. Spurrier had better recruiting, players, coaching, facilities, support, funding, and a better program period than LSU did and still couldn't dominate on a national scale.

So Saban isn't going to dominate when he has a lot less to work with than Spurrier did, and LSU doesn't have to compete against Miami and FSU for talent or play Miami or FSU during the regular season.

I hope ya'll beat UGA again in the SECCG and make it to one of the BCS bowls besides the Sugar, the Tiger program and fans CERTAINLY deserve it. Respect begets respect. I wouldn't "run smack" as you say unless the Gators or Spurrier were being disrespected here.
