Dude, you are way too caught up in the "Crowton is a genius" crap. Nothing he has done at LSU in 3 years has made me think he is a genius. In fact, just the opposite. My fear is that we have wasted three years with this guy blowing all of the talent he has had. We should be better offensively than we are or have been, and yes I realize we won the NC, but games were much closer than they needed to be and we had losses that could have been wins if the OCs playcalling would have been better, and we would not have needed the miracle in Pittsburgh. I have maintained for three years now that Crowton is the problem with our offense - no identity, no real flow. Sure, we score some impressive long play TDs from time to time, but our talent alone will result in that. Crowton was bouncing from program to program for a reason before ending up here.
I like the sarcasm here. LSU plays down on purpose, we lull others into thinking we are worse than we are b/c that is what championship teams do. They play opossum early in the year, don't try to dominate, b/c then the quality teams will not see your plays, and be caught offguard about just how good you really are. Give me a break.
Well, if JJ would have thrown pick sixes, and JLee did that all last year, once again the blame should go to the OC for putting them in positions for that to happen. Whatever happened to basic slants over the middle, a better run game to set up the pass? Crowton is not a genius, he actually overthinks too much. If he can't do more with the talent he has at LSU, then HE is the problem, not all of the excuses people keep coming up with and heaping the "genius" praise on him when he has never really demonstrated that. Personally, I would take Jimbo anyday of the week over Crowton (and I know that is going to get some commentary, but our offense was way more effective with Jimbo).
crowton is trying to bring along a green qb instead of just running the plays he knows he can succeed. ie, develop a downfield passing game. im pretty sure crowton could take your job if he wanted. dudes a genius.
and, by the way, to address the thread title, I am not happy with the O-line play, but am not worried about that since they are young at certain positions and just need to gel. I think that will come around by the 5th game.
I've noticed something about his throws. It looks like he's throwing a sinkerball. The nose of the ball is always facing down, which makes it hard to throw deep, because the ball always wants to sink. Watch the throws to the sidelines. Receivers are always having to catch the ball just off the ground. Is he a pitcher in baseball? If not, maybe he can become one. I'm sure that's something the coaches can fix.
Well, I certainly don't think he could just suddenly become a pediatrician irrespective of his IQ, and it doesn't take a genius to do what I do anyway. Additionally, I have never said he is not intelligent, just not an offensive genius as others seem to try to make him out be. Point to any time in his tenure here where our offense is dominating week to week, where our play calling is smooth and we are cruising past teams like you see other great teams do. We win the NC in 2007 via perseverance, not a dominating offense, despite talent AND experience. It took last second outcomes and the right gris-gris. Otherwise, most times in his three years, week after week, we are blaming the O-line, or lack of a running game, or a green QB throwing pick sixes for our lack of an impressive offense. Now you are suggesting it is another green QB. To me, it is the person in charge of the offense that deserves the blame, not the individuals. That's just how I see it. Dude bounced from program to program for a reason. You can be the smartest person in the world and still have no clue about how to be effective.
Don't worry Lee, you will get your chance after JJ goes down. With all the designed qb runs and JJ lowering his shoulder it will happen.
Also, to be clear, while I am definitely not a Crowton fan, I do think we will have a good season. I don't want to sound too negative with the Crowton bashing that I am doing. I just don't get the bandwagon everyone is on with this guy. As I said in another post, I think the O-line will gel, and I think we play our most impressive game of the season next week against MSU. After that, alot of questioning about our O-line, bend but don't break Def, etc. will lessen, but I still think Crowton is way overrated and we will never be dominant with this guy as our OC.
