The obvious play calling can be easily changed - just call the same plays at unexpected times. This way the team is used to running the plays, but instead of the opponent expecting them, they'll be surprised by them. So call a passing play when previously this season we've had a running play, or vice-versa. When you have such an advantage over the opposition, you could literally tell the other team what play you're going to call next, and LSU would still win the game.
Of course he would. What CLM says to the media is meaningless. Anyone who takes the majority of his public comments as a true representation of his actual feelings is making a mistake, IMO...99% of what the guy says in front of the media is very obviously nonsense, why would his remark about the o line be any different?
I remember saying this about Tebow when he was a freshman. All he did before the LSU game was line up as QB and run it up the middle but in the LSU game he did the fake QB draw for a wide open bomb of a TD pass. He did the run to the middle jump pass for a TD and generally threw all over us when he was in the game. I'm not really worried about Shepard only have 1 play.
the O line is looking worse, because JJ is not hitting the deep route consistently enough, mostly taking the underneath route. Also we are not throwing slants and making people pay for putting eight in the box. Basically all the teams are selling out, with 8 in the box. I would say Black has been disappointing, but as a whole any problems this team has can improve. We are just young (inexperienced) in the leadership category. I still believe this is a two loss team. Also this team, seems to be carrying the unnecessary burden of trying to prove themselves because of last year. I get the feeling that are just trying to hard instead of just getting into a flow. We are headed in the right direction, IMO.
You people don't need to worry about the play-calling. That's like trying to tell a brain surgeon how to do brain surgery. Crowton's offensive mind is so much more advanced that yours that you can't even begin to understand the genius of what he is doing. As for the OL, not the best OL in LSU history, but I'm not too worried about it at this point. As for the QB, yeah, I'm starting to worry even more about that, but I hope it all turns out well.
I would find it incredibly hard to believe that there is only play designed for Shepard. Okay, so far everytime he's been in (other than the fumble vs Vandy), it's a direct snap and he runs. I don't think this will be the case everytime he comes in; perhaps the coaching staff wants to look predictable by calling the same play a number of times. At some point Shepard will line up for a direct snap, and we'll see something different. I thnk there's some validity here to the Tebow comparison. The time will come when we see something different. :geauxtige
So what are our chances of Shepard's first fake draw against a good SEC team being successful? Has he thrown one pass yet?
It's all part of the master conspiracy theory of LSU lulling their opponents into a false sense of security. O-line plays down. Shepard only has 1 play. Crowton being predictable. Miles ordering his troops not to dominate. Next week. LSU 51, MSU -4.
There are no guarantees; however, if this good SEC team is expecting him to run, given his talent, I'll take my chances. :geauxtige
I actually agree, for the most part. I AM disappointed with both lines, but I think the thing that is causing us the most problem is the level of QB play we are getting. Not that Jefferson doesn't have potential, he just isn't displaying it right now. Very green. Out of this game I am actually somewhat please that Jefferson was allowed to throw the ball around; it was good experience for him. I'm interested to see what Lee could do, but I trust the coaches don't think he would do much better. Still, if we get punked in SEC play again I'll step off the Miles bandwagon that I reluctantly joined.
