By the way vAlleyCat you could market your post and sell it on a t-shirt and insert your school of choice(vanderbilt excluded) and make a bundle.
We had a good time at that game. The AZ folks were wondering what LSU was doing tailgating at 9am. Az fans did not show until 530pm. The bar across the street didnt even know there was a game going on. We beat them at BBall also. what up with that AZ CATS
Having never been a fan of any other school, I just can't imagine the atmosphere being the same anywhere else. Other away games I've been to seem like cheap imitations of the real thing. I lived a lot of life on our campus in the five long years it took for me to talk them in to letting me leave, maybe that's where I got my pair of purple tinted glasses.
valleycat, this weekend will be my first sec game so i am speaking somewhat ignorantly here but i can assure you there is one game in the big 12 that competes with (if not better) sec games and that is the red river shootout. there is no experience like it. if you ever get a chance to go, i highly recommend it.
those purple tinted glasses make sense. Everyone I have taken to games road or home have become LSU fans. I get phone calls every weekend from these west coast folks about LSU. Hey did you see LSU? They look good, etc etc etc. We have a small group now that will go to different LSU events. Baseball VS Long beach state, AZ LSU football, we are planning a bowl trip, and games next year. The group is getting bigger and bigger. It has been fun introducing these poor people to LSU. They will never be the same..
The first game my wife went to in the ONLY "Death Valley" was the Auburn game two years ago. Right from the opening kickoff (onsides) she was hooked. We were on the field afterwards along with the other 150,000 people that will claim they were there.
I'm in the process of making my fiancee into a huge LSU fan. She's from Shreveport and is originally from Texas. She's currently an LSU student, but has strong loyalties to Texas A & M. She's loved the games she's been to this year, but I don't think she bleed purple and gold like the rest of us. The mission continues however.
w.j. You may very well be right. Being a fan of college ball I would very much like to experience other games. Problem is the next 50 or so football seasons are already circled on my calendar.
I was at the Cotton Bowl last year and I don't think Dallas will be quite the same after LSU came to town. Yes, we lost but somehow I think the LSU fans had more fun just being there.
