Many publications have been wrong with their pre season picks (Auburn #1?) but this is the first time I've seen them get the final results wrong.
Just FYI, here is the article attached to that issue: http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2015296 It also has the writers email: [email protected]
Time to boycott these clowns. Not only boycott their subscriptions, don't buy the hardcover National championship book (as hard as that may be to do)
I think you are confusing The Sporting News with Sports Illustrated. (Although SI hasn't been terribly supportive either)
My reply You can't be serious with that cover! Obviously you care nothing that half the country thinks your headline is dead wrong and would be proven wrong should LSU have had the opportunity to throttle USC. USC had a very good performance against a clearly overmatched, unprepared, mediocre Michigan team that could not hold a candle to any of the three top teams. LSU dominated OU and turnovers and penalties is the only thing that kept the score close. You are taking the gutter road with this idiotic cover and it will cost you dearly in subscriptions over time. It is clear your writers are deluded. It is also clear that your editor knows absolutely nothing about marketing. You have chosen to try to boost sales in the short term by catering to the large population on the west coast. However, this cover will definitely adversely affect your sales over the long term.
It's a shame to see that you do not need any sort of education to work for Sporting News. At one time, I respected their attention, but now that I see there is nothing but iliterate ignorant fools working there, they are worth nothing more to me than a pimple on a knat's ass. If they cannot see LSU is a MUCH greater team than USC, that shows their true colors. Hopefully next year we'll get the chance to destroy that Trojan football organization.
It doesnt matter who sees what. Lets face it, we see things here with purple and gold colored glasses. Its normal for us to think LSU is the "ONLY" Champion but the College Football World does not see it like that. We didnt get to play USuCk so we are stuck with a split title in the court of public opinion. Yes it pisses me off because the last few SEC teams to win a NC were undisputed. I wanted LSU's to be undisputed and convincing which is why I was so vocal about a Michigan win because I knew it would turn out like this. So it goes. *shrugs*
