This is a tremendous class for Les Miles and LSU but they will talk about the one

Exactly, the kid didn't want to be a Tiger and we have plenty very talented RB's that did. Time to forget that Mcwho even existed and worry about the ton of great kids that we have that are proud to wear purple and gold.

This is indeed very interesting. Forget about the last time we got a recruit that was considering the Big 10 but how about one who was living right in their back yard? I dont think we've ever done that before and that is something to really take notice of.

Great job from Miles and staff on this recruitment. If we can consistently get top ten rankings like this, I'll have zero complaints.

I should have put "in Louisiana" in my post.

Nation-wide, yes indeed you're right. One quick glance at any of their recruiting classes from the past few years proves it.

I think Matt Mauck was considering Big 10 schools when he left baseball and Nick signed him.

I'm surprised that more northern guys don't come south to avoid playing in ice and snow.

Maybe, maybe not. People may talk about the one that got away for a bit. I'm sure the coaching staff will feel it for a while. But only time will tell if such talk will continue over the years, or if the bitter loss will turn into the realization that we actually got lucky (see Saban/Miami/Bama).

If JM does indeed become "the next Reggie Bush" and wins awards, is a star, etc., then yeah, he will always be the one that got away. But if JM has a merely a decent college career, or is injured and/or fades (as happens with some highly-regarded recruits), I doubt that he wil be remembered by the average fan or even some fanatics on this board. The coaching staff will probably always remember (I'm sure they've learned some lessons), but I don't know if they will always remember him with the same amount of regret they may feel today.

The rating system in recruiting is not perfect. While it is always nice to have a highly rated recruiting class (for the media exposure alone), the ratings don't necessarily mean squat over the long haul. The real strength of this year's class will be seen 3/4 years down the road, and I hope it's as good as I think it is.

Even more importantly is recruiting in relation to your needs. Having 5* players is one thing but if you're backed up in one position (Say RB) and have needs in other areas (Like OL) having a bunch of 5* RB's may win the recruiting award but won't win National Championships.

I am really happy with the recruiting class that Miles and staff brought in this year. I think we have enough quality backs that in 4 years we wont miss McKnight at all. Keiland looks like he will be a good one and I am anxious to see more of Scott and finally get to see Murphy. Congrats to CLM and the recruiting class of 07. Excited about the future of LSU Football.
