Comparisons to Saban are so incredibly trite.

'It is time to move on!'

this hire will prove in time what the miles hire will starting this football season. its another sorry ass hire by bertman. skip is in the process of bringing the athletic department down to a mediocre level in all of the majors. get ready to get excited about independence bowls guys.

You would've b****ed if Skip had hired Bobby Cox. Why didn't he get Joe Torre instead? If Tony Dungy would've been hired in football, you would've asked for Bill Belicek. I'll tell you like I told your brother danthetigerfan "Don't jump back on our bandwagon when these men start bringing in titles"

But the issue is can you accurately predict the next few years based on last year? I don't think you can because there was a lot good, and still several things that Miles needs to do better. You can't ignore an 11 win season.

I do know that this season will be a LOT tougher than last year. If he pulls another 11 win season he should get coach of the year consideration. IMO, if he wins 10, it will say more about him that last year's 11.

What a dumb post. All Coach Miles did was win 11 games in his first season - one of the few coaches in football history to do that. But anything less than a national championship is considered a bad season. And if you look at what Mainieri did while at ND you have to be impressed. He has built a fine baseball program in South Bend. He seems to have a good balance between defense and offense, with the emphasis on defense. Give the guy a chance for crying out loud. Berman interviewed some other top coaches but all withdrew their name from consideration. That was not Bertman's fault. Of course, we won't know how good his selection is for two or three years, but if you look at what Mainieri has accomplished in the last 12 years, you have to be impressed.

And he did all that on leftover recruits after Oklahoma was finished feeding.

My thought exactly. Saban was a great coach and I hated to see him leave. But under Miles we went from 9 wins to 11 wins with the same talent. No knowledgeable sports fan would deny that coaching is always a factor in how a team performs. To say Miles was not responsible for the 11 wins is rediculous.

LSU and coach Les Miles Did a great job in the bowl game..

Obviously playing for the SEC title wasn't that big of a deal to Les.. He was with Skip in Dallas lobbying for the Cotton Bowl rather than preparing for Georgia.

I'll take a SEC Championship any day over a Peach Bowl win..

But yes, LSU played great in the Peach...

I agree with this statement. It will take 4 years. It seems to me like Miles will crumble under the SEC heat. He doesn't seem to have the passion that Nick had.
