Skip is definitely a bargain hunter - I don't think it is deniable. But that has nothing to do with the quality we are bringing in.

Well, the men's track team finished 3rd in the nation.

    Being worked on.

The NFL wasn't knocking on Saban's door when we hired him either. Saban made a decent program win, Miles did the same. Both have succeeded at LSU.

And that makes it a bad hire? Because it was unexpected...?

Personally, I think this is the guy Skip had in the back of his mind the whole time - just because the media didn't know about it doesn't make it any less of a good hire.

Well, the men's track team finished 3rd in the nation.

(we've won like 50 championships, nothing since the guy left, and credit all of that to Xavier, the one man team who was recruited by Saban)

    Being worked on.

(Should have been finished months ago)

The NFL wasn't knocking on Saban's door when we hired him either. Saban made a decent program win, Miles did the same. Both have succeeded at LSU.

(he was offered 2 to 3 NFL jobs before taking LSU's)

And that makes it a bad hire? Because it was unexpected...?

(if the guy is so respected, why has he never been mentioned before? That's all I'm saying. And of course no other top coaches will come unless you entice them, and we didn't nothing to do so. Probably tried to negotiate camp money during interviews.)

If you don't see the signifigance in bringing a cold weather school to the CWS then you are a fool.

And I'm sure you honestly care about how many track championships we win... Our old track coach was amazing, but even so - the sport never brought LSU any money or fans to the sport.

Says you... Why does it matter when it gets done? This is supposed to be a complaint about Skip - that one contract is taking too long? Honestly, stick to the unfounded coach bashing.

    Head coaching jobs?

Miles was well respected (whether you like it or not), yet nobody talked about him. These things are often a suprise because it's impossible for fans to consider every well respected coach.

Bill Polian offered Saban years ago, just one of a few.
I just mentioned track since money was the issue, once again. And correctly, it doesn't make any money.

so then why is Bertman a lame duck AD if he's made all of the correct moves and hires? I just want to see that one answer from any person on this board.

and Miles? go to collegefootballnews.com today and read it. an excerpt:

    2005 Fun Stats:
    - Penalties: LSU 108 for 907 yards - Opponents 86 for 610 yards
    - Field goals: LSU 14 of 24 - Opponents 13 of 25
    - Fumbles: LSU 20, lost 13 - Opponents 21, lost 4

I'll still give miles the benefit since it was his first year. When we get away from Tiger Stadium and that great schedule we had last year, then we'll know.

I'm no fan of Bertman the AD, but he is lame duck because he is older than dirt and ready to retire.
