If all conferences had the game, it would be neither an advantage nor a disadvantage. This year, it appears that it is going to be an advantage as it was in '03. It is at times a disadvanteg also, like Texas in '02. But like I said if all conference champs were decided the same way, it wouln't hurt or help anyone more than anyone else.
Another problem with some not having them, is that it was mathematically possible for 3 different Big Ten teams to go undefeated this year (I don't remember off hand who). How do you decide who represents the conference?
We might as well quit complaining about the media and their yankee bias. It is a fact of life that most major media centers are in the northeast and the west, so we in the south will always get the shaft. BUT, there is one sure way to make sure the media doesn't have a role in determining who plays for the NC: LSU can win ALL its games, including the SECCG! We were thisclose a couple of years ago. I am looking forward to next year if: (1) Russell stays in school (Think about it: he will be on the initial "short list" of Hiesman candidates and we have all the tough games at home), (2) we can shore up our return game and quit muffing, fumbling, and blocking in the back, and (3) we can continue to recruit with the same measure of success we have in the last few years. (Big Al from Elton should be ready to be a monster by next year.) Next year really could be our chance to plow through the SEC undefeated. What do y'all think? :crystal: Next year?
Ohio State is, from what I hear with 100% consistency, the #1 team in the land. I don't care how you come to that conclusion or what statistics you use to arrive at OSU as the #1 team. If you agree that OSU is #1, then Michigan is #2 based on the head to head results, end of story. Florida could not stay on the field with OSU @ OSU like Michigan did. However, OSU vs. Michigan on a neutral field will be something to see. Not to mention LSU gets to kick USC’s butt in the Rose Bowl.            :usaflagwa :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :usaflagwa
:nope: I don't have the time to know where to begin......I'll let someone else have it. :hihi: I do like your username!!
Why do people think Florida will not be able to stay on the field with Ohio State. They certainly spanked us and many people think we have the most talent in the country. Yeah, I know we turned the ball over, etc. You know what, they were there to cash in on those turnovers and they didn't make the same mistakes. Face it, they're opportunistic and they're good. Tebow made us look like little girls as well. To be honest, they got a screw job like us against Auburn in their only loss. They likely would have went undefeated if not for that call which many in the media said was wrong which changed the outcome. Also, they were handling Ark. in different parts of the SECCG game. That helped their case. Here's how it is: -You have two really good teams. Both are pretty deserving. Florida played the #1 toughest schedule in the nation - 10 bowl eligible teams. -They say Michigan played the #3 schedule in the nation - They only played FIVE winning teams and they lost to one of them. They beat FOUR winning teams. The other seven were five losing teams and two at .500. It's not Michigan's fault, but Florida's schedule was obviously tougher. Their schedule ranking is scewed. -Michigan didn't win their conference - Florida did. People complained (many in the media) that OU played us in 2003 and they didn't win their conference. Well, if you believe in that sort of thinking, the same thing applies here. -Michigan lost to OSU even with all the inspiration of the passing of their legendary coach. You can't say Michigan is better than Florida just based on how close they played OSU. Florida hasn't had a chance to play OSU. -The bottom line is that it's a crappy system, but there is nothing that gives Michigan an advantage over Florida in this situation. Florida played an extra game and has all the advantages. I would most like to see LSU in the Rose, but the Sugar would be great too if Florida does go to the NCG. Remember, we have two losses and are still getting into the BCS. We're fortunate.
You make a lot of great points and I agree with virtually everything you say. I believe we all agree the system is flawed and a joke. For the same reasons you say Florida should get the nod, I could argue OSU is not really the best team in the land. Their schedule was weak. They played their toughest game at home. The win over Texas proved to be only a decent win and not a significant win. Let's quit arguing about who's #2 because I don't think we know who's really is #1. :usaflagwa :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :911: :usaflagwa
