This Bama rematch is simply feeling anti-climatic to me

you agree having a challenge against a new opponent with a great offense would have been so much more intriguing to not only LSU fans but fans across the nation?

That matchup would have really hyped me up.

The the only thing sweeter than being the first team to win 3 BCS titles will be beating Bama twice in one year, three times in a row, and setting it up to make it 4 in a row next season. Saban will pull his hair out. Ring the dinner bell, it's time to chow down! Bring on the overhyped gumps!

i agree with this. although i think they got it right, my eagerness to watch bowl games is out of conference matchups. games we rarely see.

for many sec fans, its to prove our conference is better than yours. the inbred fighting should end after the regular season.

id be much happier to play okie st not only because its a more exciting matchup but we'd be 10 pt favorites and a path of less(er) resistance.

I mentioned this very topic in an earlier thread. For the season is over this is nothing more than the silly season. LSU won the SEC championship. THE ONE championship that is in NO way (for us of course) up for dispute. It was won on the field not in some computer.
If LSU loses will I be upset. Sure a little bit, if we win will I get a NC shirt of course.
But for me win or lose this season was the best in LSU history (At least my history) 13-0 and undfeated, blow out after blow out. Awesome.
So for me the hardware I wanted (SEC) has long been in the barn. This game is more for Bama than for us. For them its redemption for us all it means (if we lose) is we have a better record than Bama, beat them at home and won our division and conference.

    This!

This game is huge to me just for the simple fact that a LSU win will be the smack of all smacks to the Tide nation. Any Bama fans post game excuses will be looked at as silly and idiotic.
Oh yeah, and they will lose again to us next season.

    SMACK!!!!

For the very reasons you give, this game is a farce. The voters simply got it wrong.

If you ask me which team is better, Alabama.

If you ask me if we had a suitable replacement for Bama, then I would say most definitely, Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State had 1 slip up on the road against a conference opponent who was actually decent (nearly beat Kansas State to end the season) and was put in a tough situation to play a game after learning your women's basketball coach had died. And the FG that maybe was good to win the game.

Put it this way, if we had no 1 loss teams left besides Bama, then Bama would be the de facto opponent for LSU. It's just the way it is and you live with it. No problems with that.

That is my assessment of the situation.

    We've been over this.

Even if Bama happens to win, LSU's record, season, SOS, SEC West and SEC Championship have earned the national championship. If Bama wins then the BCS will have been proven to have gotten it wrong. Hell, it still got it wrong considering Okie State's body of work was far better than Bama's.

And there is your ultimate quandary.

The BCS CANNOT under any circumstance put themselves in this situation where a close win by Bama proves absolutely nothing. We're left empty. I'm talking about fans outside of LSU and Alabama.

The BCS better pray LSU wins this game. This will be an utter embarrassment otherwise.
