Dude, seriously, he's just a recruit. More to the point, a running back recruit. Losing him doesn't kill us, or even hurt us. We've got Hester and Williams. We are MORE than fine already. Suppose McKnight turns out to be a flop? Not that I'm wishing it on him, but consider the fact that it's not at all unheard of that a 5 star recruit occasionally amounts to exactly zero in college ball.

It's not that big a deal. If the kid led us to believe he was interested in us, he had a right to. It's his freaking decision, and all we can do is hope to pursuade him. We've no right to criticize him for anything. Good GOD we have become a sensitive fan base.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't see how he could have handled it any other way.

If McKnight tabs USC early on in the process, then that leaves him open to more blowback from the LSU fans he undoubtedly sees each and every day. In short, it's better for him to give the illusion that it was a "tough call", otherwise he'd get flack for not giving his homestate superpower the consideration that all of us think he should.

Also, an early McKnight commit makes LM, of all people, look suspect. Why? Well, how does the coach of LSU get shut out weeks before NSD by the best prep prospect to come along in Louisiana in a decade (if not longer)? Be honest, some LSU fans woulda lambasted Les for not being a strong candidate for McKnight...and negative (CNS) recruiters (CNS) woulda used that as ammo to call LM's competence into question as well (i.e., "Damn, if he can't lock down the best guy in La. in decades, how's he gonna keep that program top-shelf in the years to come?")

Sure, Jimmy Clausen, for example, committed out of state months early to ND, but I suggest that we take our football just a teeny bit more seriously in the south than they do out in Cali. Clausen picks ND and his hometown shrugs; McKnight picks USC,say, two months before signing day and we'd have a meltdown.

At least, that's how I see it.

Are you blaming Keiland Williams now? KW is one hell of a back and will show more of his talent in the upcoming seasons, I have a feeling he will be a great success.

Bottom line in Joe's situation SC was the best choice for him. He wants to major in a field that SC specializes in. He gets to showcase his talents week in week out against a conference that can't spell the word Defense.
I don't blame him for going there and really don't give a phukk so long as it wasn't an SEC school. He can't hurt LSU unless we happen to meet SC for the NC, and if that happens I'm sure LSU will be more than happy to kick his teeth out. :)

the pretense here is that you can read his thoughts, which you cant, you are just making this up, for no reason.

Even with Keiland here, Usc has more talent and depth at running back than LSU. Gable,Johnson, washington, moody, and Marc tyler. Mcknight went to USC because that is where he wanted to go(he also received a really nice house and car). I have always heard he has wanted to get away from his mother and going to school in california helps him accomplish that. Good Luck Joe, cant wait to beat you in National championship game next year.

learn to disagree without taking personal shots.

you are assuming what mcknight said about his decision making process is not true. for all we know he really hadnt decided and could have chosen lsu. i see no reason to accuse the kid of dishonesty. he says he was thinking about various schools, then he made a decision, fine. doesnt seem fair to him to call him a liar, because you cannot really know what he was thinking.

    kinda sounds like sour grapes.

Reality is Pete Caroll always gets to cherry pick who he wants. Why? Because you have a program with great tradition matched with a charismatic coach who can also lead, coach and manage. It's not gonna change unless this whole Bush investigation puts SC on probation. If this happens JM has been told he can transfer immediately with no restrictions. I just hope if something comes of this it happpens before football season starts.

As far as LSU, we have a great coach who has character, class and integrity. My only problem with CLM is he supports his Juniors and Seniors too much. He needs to play the best athletes at all times. He pretty much said that yesterday for the first time. Just think if CLM had rotated Ryan P or Holiday in at certain times just to throw the defense off it would have help out a lot. Isn't that what Florida did well with Tebow?

I believe CLM is growing in his position and loving it. I love his passion and what he said about Bama yesterday. He is bleeding Purple & Gold that I have not seen since Cholly Mac. I love that he flys under the radar. Not getting JM helped keep it that way. I would hate to have all the distractions CNS brings Bama's program. I suspect we will be more consistant with our play next year due to our whole staff being more seasoned and also being a truly CLM staff. I'd much rather be somewhat of an underdog then have a 4mil a year coach that has to win big now.
