    Yes, he can catch, but no, he is not a polished receiver. I was at Florida camp with him and he seemed a little rough on the edges. These are things that I am sure he will iron out but he did not look like a WR at the camp, just like the fastest dude on the field. Catching isn't his problem, but getting a clean release off the line and running good routes could be.

    thanks Luke, I've heard the same things from a couple of guys that watched him in HS last season. They said when he played vs a good DB who jammed him instead of lining up 15 yards downfield, that he did have a hard time getting into his routes. Beating the jam at the line is one of the hardest things for a WR to learn along with precise route running and reading defenses.

    QBLuke everyone has an opinion but here's what 18 college recruiting coordinators think of Xavier;
    Best of the South Team

    ABOUT THE TEAM
    Best Of South
    The Tampa Tribune's second annual Best of the South team was chosen by 18 college recruiting coordinators from across the nation with an eye on the Feb. 4 signing date. Each coordinator was asked to pick 20 prospects from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia - covering the Southern region and all of ACC/SEC territory.

    The ballot - which listed 71 players - was compliled by staff writers Joey Johnston, Bob Bellone and Mike Servidio. It was based on a consensus of several recruiting analysts. Receiving votes were 66 of the 71 on the ballot, along with five write-in candidates. The top 20 vote-getters made the team.

    The Top 20
    • 1. Xavier Carter, WR, Melbourne Palm Bay
    • 2. Xavier Lee, QB, Daytona Beach Seabreeze
    • 3. Keith Rivers, LB, Lake Mary
    • 4. Drew Miller, OL, Sarasota Riverview
    • 5. Leon Hart, OL, Columbia Spring Valley
    • 6. Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville Trinity
    • 7. DeMario Pressley, DL, Greensboro Dudley
    • 8. Early Doucet, WR, St. Martinville
    • 9. Willie Williams, LB, Miami Carol City
    • 10. Drew Weatherford, QB, Land O' Lakes
    • 11. Delmonte Bolden, DL, Chattanooga Tyner
    • 12. Jamaal Edwards, RB, Greensboro Dudley
    • 13. Markus Manson, RB, Tuscaloosa Hillcrest
    • 14. Bobby Washington, RB, Miami Killian
    • 15. Thomas Brown, RB, Tucker

    Not an ounce of fat on this guy! He looks fast standing still. I sure hope he has moves and some soft hands. We have a world-class trackster at WR right now, who has been a blur for four years, but can't get open or hold onto the ball very well.

    Was it Corey Webster or Travis Daniels that said, and I paraphrase, "If a guy runs a 4.3 forty, he can't run it if he can't get off the line of scrimmage!" Let's hopethe X-man is fast enough to run around any db in his way.

    Brezell is too slender and does not have the strength to get off the line. That is definitely one of his problems.

    I don't think it will be the case with this kid. He will be much stronger and the coaches will work with him to deal with those obstacles.

    Here's the X-man's numbers;

    6'3" / 205lbs / 4.28 (10.29) / 285lbs bench

    This is not a little track guy. When he gets into LSU's weight program this summer, all his numbers will improve. Summer workouts will began soon, so I'm sure there will be some accurate reports on Xavier & the rest of the freshmen.

    Question: What leads you to believe that the coaches will do this with Carter, but did not do it with Brezell?
