I am not worried much about either of these games. The waterboy will most likely play against Western Kentucky. Ole Miss has looked terrible every game I have seen them (granted I did not watch them all) but with that program in turmoil...
Mebbe so, .... but even the casual fan of CFB understands there is a measurable difference between Arkansas and the other teams you referenced (UF/UT/AU) LSU deserves to be favored, but make no mistake ..... Arkansas is a more dangerous team than what most LSU fans on this forum seem to acknowledge.
I agree. Arky has a respectable passing game, and although we do really well creating turnovers and covering well we have also been prone to give up big plays to the passing game (WVU). This game will not be a gimmie.
No top-10 team is going to be overlooked by LSU this season, especially Arkansas. But LSU has every reason to be confident playing them at home. Arkansas has more exploitable flaws than LSU does.
The porkers don't have an offensive line that can stop us. Witness what bama did to them. It will be the beat down in Baton Rouge. The big cats will not be denied.
I acknowledge how dangerous that they are, and they always play us good, but make no mistake, NOT THIS YEAR Not against THIS LSU team, No Sir. The difference between LSU and Arkansas in raw talent is clear as day. Arkansas on the road in SEC play has struggled, and struggled with teams that LSU would wipe the floor with, Vandy, Ole Miss If this game were in Arkansas, Id say it would be close, and I think Arkansas will play us well for the 1st half. Then LSU's depth will creep in and half way through the 3rd total dominance will arise and Arkansas will lose by at least 3 touchdowns in Death Valley. Mark It!
I'm not going to compare what Bama did to them and what we could do to them. Bequette was out when they played Bama ... and Bama still only put up 23 offensive points on them ... at home. They also didn't have a running identity at the time, but now D.Johnson seems to be stepping up in that role, much like K. Davis did last year. I think we can stop their run game with our front six, no problem, cause as you said, they don't have an offensive line that accounts for much. But ol Honey Bunn is going to have to shut up and play some football, because J Wright and J Adams are not like any WR core he's faced to this point. They are dang good, and T Wilson is dang good at hitting them. The key to us winning that game will be to score points. We aren't going to hold the hogs to 10 points, it's just not going to happen. Their offense is much better than Bama's. .. think OR or WVU. JLee is going to have to get back on his feet so we have a good pass attack again, and JJ is going to have to play his A game with the run and pass. We won't be able to afford to squander many series, IMO. Think about it .. Arky, as pathetic as we may think they are, only have one loss ... to Bama. You may not like them ... but they aren't a TN or Auburn.
Homerism is a beyotch sometimes. Take off the pig-colored glasses and analyze the game fairly: "It's going to be very tough to win against this team in BR, but we have done it before and several times lately. Still, the only time we saw a defense like that was at Bama and the result wasn't good. Going to be a very high hill to climb for us in this one. Hopefully, we can get it done and blow up the SEC West." That's a very basic analysis and probably represents where those people should be.
You really know a hell of a lot about Arkansas, are they your #2 team? Its ok if they are, but you do post in their defense "very often" Akansas struggled with Troy, Vandy, and Ole Miss. I havent seen any quality dominating win from them. And based on what Bama did, I'd say us and Bama are pretty neck & neck. Sorry, not giving Arky a chance in this one
You're right on that score. I'm not one of them though. But I've seen that this team is moving through an epic season; it has been choreographed as much as any CFB team can be; the coach & team are not so rigid that they play only one type of football. We have all noted that the preparation for Oregon was intense; the D was brought up to speed by running fresh offenses at them, one after another. Each week LSU has been prepped for the next game--but always with the end point on the horizon--the BCSNCG. I think that the display of real football knowledge exhibited by this board is outstanding and impressive--there are very few kool-ade drinkers here. Thus, I am not worried about R-Kansas, trap games, etc. With Bama 'kicked' outta the way (I had to say that), I fully expect a dedicated, viciously motivated team to dispose of the remaining schedule in grand (read: EPIC) style. Sleepwalking will be minimal and will at most consume a few minutes of the first quarter.:LSU231::lsup::LSU231::lsup:
