I saw that story before but when I read it was after the Oklahoma game and God was talking to their coach. I thought it was funny then and it is funnier now.:geauxtige:geauxtige
Did you attend games in '58 and hear it. No, because it wasn't a "chant" until THE STADIUM ROCKED WITH IT ... and that was the Manning era. The year Arch played with a broken wing ... pregame ... the stadium rocked with it ... I got slapped in the head for screaming it well after the crowd died down ... FUN, FUN, FUN! Now I ain't saying it wasn't screamed by a few isolated Ole Piss HATERS before then ... but the crowd "chants" where thousands screamed "Go to Hell, Ole Miss, Go to Hell" started one year in the Manning era following a big run of Newspaper articles (TP/Advocate/etc) where it was mentioned ... and the student body started it ... creating a snowball effect thereafter. Archie was the first to hear the LSU throngs Howl!
It was in the 50's. The preachers in Baton Rouge were upset about the " Chant" . You are simply wrong Ramah.
