The sky is not falling but things are just disappointing

I was not commenting on what you said just making an observation that we play in the championship every four years. Saban will not win the BCS every other year. His teams are no where near as deep as LSU. We have top recruits in state with no competition from in state schools so we really don't need to go across the nation too much. Proof of southern dominance is the last six titles. All the talent is in the south.

 

LSU also put Saban on the map. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement but Saban had some horrible games at LSU - UAB, Iowa, the Bluegrass Miracle to name a few. His record: 8-4 with a loss to UAB, 10-3 with a loss to Ole Miss, 8-5 trounced by VT and Texas, then the National Championship season, followed by 9-3 record getting spanked by Georgia and inexplicably losing to Iowa on the last play of the game. In five seasons, only once did he lose fewer than three games. You would be running Miles out on a rail for a similar performance. Saban had a good tenure here but I think his legend at LSU has outgrown his accomplishments.

 

This. Just look at that '02 season, coming off of the '01 SECC. Losing to both Alabama and AU by over 30 points. Yikes!

The '04 season, coming off the NC was nothing to write home about, either.

Yet, the legend of the genious that was Saban lingers.

 

LSUDieHard - everything you stated is extremely valid and more importantly very true. You are maybe right about Miles being run out of town if he had that performance, although if you look at Miles record after we won the BCSNC in 2007, the following year we screwed the pooch and went 8-5 "lost to Ole Piss at home" and then followed that up with 9-4 and another loss to Ole Piss in Oxford. Now I am not trying to take anything away from CLM he has done a magnificent job and I tip my hat to him. So as I stated the sky is not falling but it is just a little disappointing the way the season ended and the way the recruiting is ending this year. Does that mean things are falling apart in Tiger Town, abso-f*cking-lutely not, but there are some red flags that have risen again and I hope they correct themselves again that is all !!!!

TigerFan - bud don't kid yourself, just look at the rankings "from all the recruiting sites" of his recruiting classes at Bama since he has been at Bama - all those idiots that don't think rankings make a difference ummm - 2 NC's in 3 years proves otherwise. I can promise you, you are mistaken. All you have to do is look at who Bama is losing this year to the NFL "four players" expected to go in the FIRST ROUND, and they are already ranked 5th in the country next year. They are just as deep as we are and they continue to sign the top class in the country year after year!!! I have news for anyone who thinks differently unfortunately for us Bama is going to be there right with us step for step!!!! And as we saw this year "and every year we have played them for the past 6 years" every game will be a complete 60minute DOG fight!!!!

Saban - 3 BCS National Titles - in 10 years "total 2 schools"

Meyer - 2 BCS National Titles in 5 years

Miles - 1 BCS National Title in 6 years

Yes you can definitely say he is a GENIUS. . But don't take my word for it just ask all the sports writers and his peers I think you will find a bunch of them calling him a coaching and recruiting genius.

Now do I wish he would fail, I don't know if I wish he would fail because of what I feel he helped to launch LSU to it's current greatness, but I definitely hope and pray Bama fails. So if I hope Bama fails than I have to hope it's coach fails too so "around the bowl and down the hole roll tide roll"

KyleK - my mandeville buddy, Yes I agree with you all the 1's at their position should be lined up outside CLM's office begging to play here. I mean don't you feel LSU is the best program in the country? I know I do. Don't you feel top recruits should want to play for LSU and Les Miles? I know I do. So if you feel like I feel that LSU is the best program in the country and that all the top recruits in the country should want to play for our great program and our great coach, than yes all number 1's should want to play here!!!!
