One must lead a sad, pathetic existence to to even conjure the thought that using roux from a jar is acceptable. It's like using a gas grill in place of talent. You might as well eat TV dinners and delivery chinese while you apply your talents elsewhere.

Roux from a jar is a sin and if anyone here says otherwise, they deserve the scarlet letter.

It's 2 ingredients. How fucking lazy can you be? Besides, mesicans who jar that shit up spit in it.

You are already a sinner so applying any letter would be fruitless.

I'll leave the roux rumble to you fellas. I'm a good cook, not a great one. Baking is my thing.

Very true, although I've been with the same company for 10 yrs (various divisions) and have worked in different areas of the city. The past 5 yrs was only 30 min without tolls. Now it's much worse.

I never considered myself a nature person but living in The Woodlands for the past 6 yrs has made me appreciate certain things. I bet that I'd love living in the mountains or other spots known for their landscape.

My parents live in an old family house with the original structure built in the 1880s. They have a pond, garden, and an oak tree that long pre-dates the house. It takes a lot of work but keeps them busy during their early days of retirement.

Is the 99 road gonna help you? I took the section tonight from Katy to Cypress.

One thing about Houston, they have left turning lanes, but not many right turning lanes.

This makes following online directions in Houston a nightmare. The directions never mention the left or U under the freeways. They just mention the turn onto whatever the street is supposed to be.

I hate driving in Houston but I will. I will not drive through Dallas and I have only been to L.A. 3 times in 15 years. I hate L.A. and make every attempt to drive around it rather than through it. I have found Atlanta, despite being overpopulated with cars and humans, a fairly easy big city to get around. New Orleans is a decent commute in traffic but the roads are so fucked up I'd just as soon take a tank trail.

Purist as I am about many things, I cannot tell the difference between jar roux and scratch.

I don't make gumbo often. 3 or 4 pots a year. But when I do, I use the jar roux. The pots are empty and the bowls that people eat it in are always empty.
