The Big 12 South is much better this year than last, close to the SEC West I think. The Big 12 overall however sucks this year, similar to last year. All of their power is in the South. The entire North sucks.

While there may be debate over who's better overall this year, the true gold standard is how consistently excellent the best members of each conference are year in, year out.

In that case, the SEC beats the Big XII like a red-headed step-child. Yes, Nebraska has played for the golden ring in recent years and both Colorado and Texas have come thisclose to getting that shot, but consider this:

Assuming AU goes 13-0 this year and wins it all, that's FIVE SEC National Champions in the past TWELVE years. Better yet, ALL FIVE were different schools (Ala, Fla, Tenn, LSU, AU).

Hell, toss in the 2002 Georgia 13-1 team---who I thought was at least better than Ohio State---and you coulda had SIX SEC national champs in the past 12 years made up of SIX different teams.

If championships are all that, at the end of the day, really matter, can anyone plausibly deny the SEC's stretch of excellence the past decade or so?

    Of course not.

actually, who really gives a Rat's a$$ which division is toughest? I pull for LSU. and other's in the SEc IF it is beneficial to yeah you guessed it LSU.

USC plays in the weakest conf. around, has it hurt them?? Well has it? :nope: media loves them. There's an old sayin that it's easy to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by Turkeys, all you have to do is beat your wings a tad and you look like you're head and shoulders above the crowd.
the only problem I see is when they go to play in a NC game. they certainly didnt falter agaisnt Michigan last year, although I didn't consider it an NC game.

think about it this way, if every team in the SEc west SUCKED compared to LSU, and we played in the SEC CG game every year, our chances of winning the SEC would immediately sky rocket, just by the mere fact that we were there every year. it's easy math.

i know someone is going to come back with the quality of opponent thing and that has merit, I'll go along, to a point. There is enough parity in CF to lose to anyone at anytime, so even in a sorry league if you go 7-0 you're still dahm good.
