Then the postal system in other countries must really be horrible. I am currently involved in trying to get the USPS to find a package that I mailed and they lost. I sent it Priority Mail with tracking. It arrived at the Tampa, FL Mail facility on the morning of April 24th of this year and was put on a truck for delivery a few minutes later. That's where the trail ends. Multiple calls and 2 visits to the post office have resulted in nada. Last time they told me that the lost package was under investigation. Yeah, it's under investigation like a 30 year old jaywalking ticket. I was returning something for a refund and now since the recipient hasn't received it I am out the money I paid for it. This is not the first time the Postal Service has lost something I mailed or was mailed to me. I regularly get mail that has been addressed to other people in my mailbox. Some are for neighbors and I just put it in their mailboxes and I hope they do the same for me. I have no way of knowing. Sometimes I get mail that is addressed to people who live in different parts of town. I write "WRONG ADDRESS" on those and put them back in the box with the flag lifted up. Then why do we have to pay the Russians to transport our astronauts to and from the space station? It was very short sited to discontinue the space shuttle without an immediate replacement option.
I pretty much agree with you,.. fortunately, the private sector is about ready to take over Boeing expands operations, names space shuttle replacement First launch could happen in 2017 http://www.wesh.com/article/boeing-expands-operations-names-space-shuttle-replacement/4444783
Yeah I thought of things like that after posting, but those things don't involve telling citizens what we can or can't do do so not the same. My wording was poor.
There is still a lot to be done before they can say private space ships are safe for manned operations. More than just a couple of the launches contracted to bring supplies to the shuttle have blown up.
As private citizens we pay more per person than any other country in the world as a percentage of GDP and we get less care.As a government we also pay more than any other country as a percentage of GDP and we get less care. It was this way before the ACA too. Let's face it. Healthcare in this country is and always will be 100 percent shit. I sometimes think not only do we as Americans pay for the less fortunate and freeloaders in our country, but we also do it around the world. I pay 30 bucks a pill so Giuseppe can get a whole script of 60 for 2 bucks. And pot still isn't legal. So god damn stupid.
The VA sucks, but that is not single payer. That is an under funded system in an under funded department trying to handle issues for which they are inadequately funded and staffed. Tricare and Tricare For Life are single payer, and have worked GREAT for me. Government health programs that suit me fine,
OBTW. The GOP has done this to themselves. After bitching and moaning (with legitimacy) they got nothing except a tax break for the rich. It is beyond disgusting. If they are unfortunate to get this so-called health care plan passed, it will doom the GOP for years. And deservedly so!
+1 I've got some significant health issues and between Medicaid & Tricare, my out of pocket expenses are minimal.
