1. This isn't going to be popular, but the NK nuke program is both rational and defensible.

They have been under US nuclear weapons forever.
They can look to Libya to see what happens when you give up ones nuc program
They are vastly overwhelmed by combined US-South Korean conventional forces
They are faced with 20,000 plus US troops in very close proximity to their border.

For years, probably decades, all we had to do was cancel or curtail the numerous joint US-South Korean exercises that they fear so much. But we did not, we kept it up, because our nuc ensured the North could do nothing.

Now, after years of "kicking the can down the road" and wringing of hands, we are faced with this little country with nucs.

There is no good answer at this point. There may not be any answer.

  10. So, who would have to sit at the table?

A propagandist? Sure. An extreme narcissist? Sure. A petulant child? Sure. Undereducated about the ways of the world? Sure. Self-serving? Sure. Uncaring about his own people? Sure. A bad negotiator? Sure. A small-handed blowhard? Sure.

And then Kim Jong Un would have to be invited, too.
