Only if you believe God must be bound by physical law. I've never heard of any theology that accepts that.
Another dimension Why? If there is no God there are no absolutes. If humans created the concepts of good and evil it was because societies runs smoother if people are conditioned not to act upon their basest instincts. If you are told by society to kill members of another society you do it because you believe they are evil and deserved to be killed. If you kill another member of your own society without just provocation you become viewed as evil by your peers. Belief in a higher power is universal throughout the history of mankind, From the must primitive worshipers of the sun and other deities to polytheistic worship of a god for all occasions. Want a good wine, pray or better yet sacrifice some living person or animal to Dionysius. Better and more sex, slay a goat for Aphrodite. But back to the present. If you believe in God and act according to what constitutes good, positive societal behavior to you fellow man you have lived a decent life and if it turns out there is no God no harm, no foul. Your carcass will be 6 feet under but you won't know it because there will be total nothingness for you. But if you don't believe in God no matter how you have lived your life you are screwed for all eternity. There may or may not be a heaven or hell. If there is a heaven I would rather be there than just cease to exist. If there is a hell I sure don't want to end up there. I have gotten partial to air conditioning.
Yep, evidence to me that the God spark is everywhere, in everything it's what holds the atoms together,.. Basic Hindu 101
Not at all accurate GDF. There isn't enough space to have a real discussion about the spread of Christianity or the Crusades. We're there venal pose and kings etc then? Absolutely! However don't discount the strength of faith throughout society in the dark and Middle Ages. Likewise don't discount the trauma the fall of Jerusalem, limitations on access to holy sites as well as the threat to Byzantium. Likewise the British conquest of India was less for political power but to allow trade. India was chaotic and internal fighting was destructive to the whole society. In fact India was not brought into the British empire for nearly 100 years after Clive and the John Company took it over. The English brought more peace and prosperity to the sub continent than any of the native rulers. Don't you know the laws are based on English common law and the official language of Indian courts is English? I think the vast majority of Europeans in colonial times were led by a moral compass any of us would be proud of. Don't use a lazy cynical popular folk tale fool you. The world owes more to the White European civilization than it has ever taken.
My beef is with the Church establishment, popes and such, as a whole they were despicable,.. tithing, moral hypocrisy, threats of excommunications, banishment, religious executions,.. using the "one true faith" as a rationale to enslave and murder non believers. Look I'm a product of western civilization too, it's worked out well for me,.. but let's not sugar coat it,.. especially up to and through the Renaissance period the Church hierarchy was horribly corrupt, The governments were controlled by Christian churches, and they invaded freely, stole what they wanted, destroyed what they didn't like, and treated the native peoples like shit,.. all under the guise of saving souls,.. but what it was really about was power and money.
