I’m not so sure that giving up the #7 jersey was voluntary. Like #18 is reserved for the voted upon Team leader, #7 has become the number given to the biggest playmaker. Imo #Delpit should be waering #7.

I agree - not sure why he got 7. Disappointing.

Why does this "tradition" even exist? Three consecutive standout players coincidentally wore the same number and now there's some hallowed tradition behind it? As recently as 2004, there are three players sharing the #7 on the same roster. IDK, it seems to me we're not very secure about the traditional excellence of our program as a fan base if we have to invent crap like this to get excited about.

Who’s wearing the 7 jersey has never been something as a fan I paid any attention to. I think it may have been created to somewhat lessen the importance of the 18.

And in my opinion the 18 hasn’t been worn by anyone like Jacob Hester.

I am not so superstitious... I use the numbers simply to know "who". You can paint a turd red, but it's still a turd.

The real reason is we didn't sack up. Some times you just have to want it more and we didn't.

I agree, it was kinda stated jokingly. I liked the 18, kinda cool, but the 7 thing just seemed like a turnover chain gimmick copycat of 18. Too much of a good thing - dumb.
