It might have been a Republican Congress but it wasn't a rubber stamp congress for several reasons, filibuster and a lot of Bush's plans were derailed not to mention the imigration issue went no where. Our bet was so long ago I can't remember the exact terms? It was either winning in Iraq or the reason we went into was proven? I'm feeling a bit strange these days. I almost feel like I'm back in NY or Mass with a new Democratic Congress and governor in Colorado, that hasn't happened since 1962 and I have Red's friend GWB to thank for it. I guess with any person, politician and president you get good and bad?:yelwink2:
It was back during one of the pre-election Iraq war debates. I bet Sourdough a steak dinner that he would agree with me about Iraq if in four years we were still fighting insurgents in Iraq. So we have to wait until 2008. But he already agrees . . . http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=22629&page=3&pp=15&highlight=steak Trouble is I have to go to Colorado to collect it!
Good Luck getting here with the weather we have been having lately. Another storm is suppose to hit on Thursday or Friday!
But tonight the NEW Iraq plan is being announced, Salty. Why aren't the Bush fans whooping it up? Why aren't LSUCraig and SabanFan telling me that this time he's got it right and and we'll win and be victorious? Never mind . . . I know why.
God, if I hear this one more time.... The United States was never a big customer of Iraq. Oil had nothing to do with our being there. I remember during the Vietnam war after a small amount of oil was discovered in South Vietnam, all the anti-war protesters started screaming that oil was the reason we were there. You would think they could find a fresher script.
The US was never a big customer of Iraq due to the relations between the US and Iraq. Iraq has MUCH more oil than Vietnam. 112 gigabarrels to give an estimate. That puts Iraq as the third-fourth largest reserve of conventional oil in the world!
I don't understand your point. How is all this Iraqi oil going to benefit us? Are we going to steal it from them or pay them for it? We have no problems getting our hands on oil right now. We import enough oil to meet our demands. We don't need Iraqi oil.
