The prospects of facing Rice in the Super Regional

I understand your point. If for some reason, we choke and don't make it to the CWS, some people will place it squarely on the shoulders of Smoke. I believe he should step up for some of the criticism, and, these players have been in organized ball for 15 or more years. They should know what it's all about by now. If we do not make it, we're still light years ahead of where we were in the '70's and before.

Does anyone remember when we played Rice in football every year? There was always some really old guy full of bourbon in the south endzone that would scream: "What comes out of a China-man's butt? Rice-Rice-Rice."

Just a bit of nostalgia.

 

How about this. How about LSU just sweep their regional....beat the living sh** out of Rice...by 10-run ruling them if their is such a rule....who gives a rats ass...then go to the College World Series and beat the ever living crap out of whoever stands in their way and then lose to UGA in the CWS to cap off a SEC World Series.

And yes, UGA won't make it to the CWS...kiss my ass. LSU should and will. Rice is f-ing over-rated. Just kick their ass...shut their fans up...and win another CWS for the SEC.

For all you experts ...

You don't judge LSU Baseball on the regular season ... they are judged on their performance in the postseason. I recall quite a few fans (you fans know who you are) during the 2000 regular season suggesting that college baseball had past Skip by ... he made fools of you all!

The postseason starts Friday ... let's wait until the season is over before judging Smoke and this team.

 

Great post, especially Tirks. I was trying to say that same thing in an earlier post but wasn't eloquent enough. The mirage is so true when you read many of the Bashers posts. I also saw many of those LSU teams and would be amazed when we won the CWS after having seen them play so badly in many games. We won some of those games due to the Gorrilla getting out of his cage though.

 

I think some people are concerned due to the poor showing LSU had in the CWS last year, and the mindset they had going in. It seems people are anticipating the same ho-hum attitude since that is what happened in the SEC tourney. I agree people should be cautiously optimistic, since anything could happen. BTW, our regional isn't that easy. From what I have read, Southern Miss has a hot batting order like we do, and can bring it. They broke records in their CUSA tourney.

Would it be out of the realm of possibility that some players who Holt said "were on vacation", are thinking too much about the draft next monday instead of thinking about how to win games as a team?

you know as absurd as that sounds its very true. many, many fans said for skip's last 3-5 years the game had well passed him by and i am sure its many of the doom and gloom fans we have today. It happens everywhere all the time so its not specific to our area, its just the nature of fans. It is even more hilarious in retrospect, however.
