That, and the onside kick in the second quarter when we had the lead.

The game mismanagement was bad but the offensive play calling was why we lost. I hope we see something better this weekend and take out frustrations the Hogs!

I posted this in reponse to the same issue on another thread, and it applies here as well:

I'm with you on this, and Crowton needs to get the axe... Ultimately it was Miles who signed off on these plays, but why would Crowton suggest them to begin with? I know CLM gave an explanation in his press conference yesterday, but it still just does not make sense. It's not logical.

Oh well, I suppose we have to move on from this. Sounds like the team has moved on, and we have another big conference game coming up that is a must win. We can still finish 10-3, not shabby by any standards!

From the 32-yard line, Josh Jasper would have had to kick a 49-yard field goal. He had just made a 50-yard field goal in the first half on the same side of the field. Any short gains would have made the field goal that much shorter.

LSU was down to its third tailback in Stevan Ridley as Keiland Williams left the game early in the fourth quarter with a broken ankle. And Ridley did not convert on a critical third and one in the 24-15 loss to Alabama two weeks ago with the Tigers leading 15-13 in the fourth quarter. After a punt, Alabama took a 21-15 lead on a 73-yard touchdown pass to Julio Jones.

But the 5-foot-11, 222-pound Ridley was chosen over Williams to finish the Alabama game after tailback Charles Scott left with a broken collarbone in the third quarter. And on his first carry of that game, Ridley broke two tackles on an 8-yard touchdown to give LSU a 15-10 lead.

"I think as long as we execute and do our assignment, anybody back there can run," Hitt said.

"Was I expecting the run? Yes," Ridley said. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't. I was ready for Jasper to boom another one up there. I mean he kicked a big one (laughing) earlier in the game. So it was no doubt. I knew that."

I wonder what Crowton's side of the story is, that probably is interesting to hear.
