The long Magee TD run, K. Boone gave a great block. I was talking about Cam telling guys about downfiled blocking.

OBJ reverse, Hawk was looking for someone to block, as he was heading downfield.

In the second half, I could see a little transition into Cams offense, his sets and plays were starting to set up the TCU defense.

Magee gave a great block on the long return by OBJ.

Playing a few guys, True and Red-Shirt Freshmen.

15 players were making their first career appearance for LSU.

Tigers making their first career starts (6, 2 on offense and 4 on defense) OT Hawk, TE Dillon Gordon, DE Rasco, DT Ego, DE Jordan Allen and LB D.J.Welter.

    One stat that stood out:

    Third-Down Conversions 13 of 19

Current and future recruits should also pay attention to the fact that 8 freshmen saw the field Saturday night.

I've noted the positives many times, but this one stat both encourages me and worries me. that's a lot of third-down situations. We weren't able to get much on first and second downs all night. We were a little bit predictable and stubborn there, it seemed like. What's the deal with that, Dad?

And THIS is why the Juniors are ready to leave early, and why the Sophomores are ready to go. Great coaching decision.

We are still going to be a run first team, and we valiantly tried to establish it. As the game wore on, our running became more dominant--hence being able to run out the last five minutes with (I think) only one pass play.

TCU's strength, traditionally, is their run defense.

Before the game, all I ever heard about what their secondary.

Their secondary is good, but look up their run defense over the past few seasons.

We only punted twice. 6-6 in the Red-Zone, 3-3 in FG, 4-4 in PAT's, etc.

I see what Cam is doing, slowly bringing in his stuff. You could see a little change in the second half. These next three games, will help correct the minor things. In the NFL you have pre-season games, LSU started right out the gate with a good team. How good, we'll know soon. Remember this, we started with a lot of new guys on the OL, starting for the first time, starting new positions. The OL was coming together in the second half. It helps to have Studs on the sidelines. At the beginning of the season, many had written off LSU, now, many are putting them up with the top teams. Many didn't know what we had, now some are starting to find out LSU has reloaded. Yep, reloaded, like every year.

I still say LSU had the best hire in the off season.

This was probably the biggest problem, and it's pretty much a self-correcting one. I'm encouraged.
