First of all, way to be a man and come for your beating, crow, and all else that will be sure to follow. Some of your points are good ones, but I see some of it a different way. The real difference in the game, imo, was not just the STs, but the STs decision making. Your missed FGs were all 44-55 range, not gimmes in college. After being pushed back by our defense on those drives, your coaches chose to go for those FGs rather than punt and play the field position game. We could have taken a few long range FG attempts, too, but punted instead and pinned you inside the 5. Another case in point, is the decision to put an injured Maze back there to field the punt. All of our FG attempts were from realistically makable ranges. I also take dispute that you would have scored if that pass is caught. No doubt the INT was huge, and the game changer, but we did not score a TD with 1st and goal from inside the 5, so you never know with these defenses. I would not assume, and, anyway, the INT was made, so it is a mute point. It is what we all do when our team loses one that we think we should have won, speculate on what could have happened. Lastly, congrats to ALA for playing a hard fought game. In the end, ironically, the coaches decision making on STs, imo, was the difference in the game. I believed all week that our STs would put us over the top in this game, and I believe that is exactly what was the difference.
Thanks bro... I agree, that was an AMAZING, on the edge of my seat the whole time, game. Best of luck!
Yeah, I just can't deal with it... It's hard to have that one team you just struggle against, but major props to LSU, and best of luck the rest of the season. And thanks...
But the point is had we not pinned you back maybe you drive the field deeper and get an easy kick your short kicker could and would make. The 10-15 yards difference in field position WAS the difference. So yes it was HUGE and for that very reason: pinning you back.
I got to hand it to you Tappy. You're welcome back here anytime, not just when we play each other. You owned up like you said (and unlike others in the past). Alabama is clearly the 2nd best team in the nation. Oklahoma State, Stanford, Boise State would be thrashed by you guys.
I agree... It's hard to speculate on that though, because we just couldn't produce in and around the 30 for some reason. I think it had just as much to do with lack of execution, and play calling as it did LSU.
