    Lets say they send out a million emails a day and they have a .5% success rate and the average amount of money they receive is $100 from each person they fleece. If my math is right (no guarantees), that's $500k a day. Not bad.
    No offense to your ex F-n-L Winston, but if you're dumb enough to fall for it, you deserve to have your money taken.

    It's not just emails. Now it's texting and telemarketing too. I have gotten several calls in the past from some guy with a foreign accent who says his name is Steve Martin. "Steve" starts his spiel by telling me that if I don't want to have to appear in front of a "federal magistrate" I should pay him money.

    Yep or they tell you they are from the IRS and if you don't pay you are going to jail. Silly bastards, the IRS doesn't call anyone

    I remember a few years ago, one of the dollar store employees got a call from someone claiming to be a with Green Dot quality control and they were investigating complaints of defective cards. Had the cashier load up the max on several cards and gave them the code, to test it. Got a few grand out of her.
