This is not intended as a knock against Del Rio, but do you think his defense would be to complicated with the limited hours the kids can be with the coach?

They said the same thing about Saban's defense, and it seems to be working. He would have to continue to recruit the smart goal oriented players that Saban recruited, but I think that it could work.

This is in no way or means a knock against Jack Del Rio. For the record, I like him as a player both with the Saints and Cowboys and think he's a fine NFL coach. But...do you see or hear Jack Del Rio's name being bantered around by national pundits as being one of the best coaches in college football like you did with Nick Saban? I just don't see or hear Del Rio being mentioned in the same breath with the likes of Bob Stoops, Pete Carroll, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Bowden. I think LSU needs just that...someone with some POP! Make everyone say..WOW, LSU hired this guy (insert name)!
Take Stoops and Richt for a second...these guys were assistant coaches/coordinators before getting their respective jobs. I know Skip has said he wants someone with head coaching experience, but Stoops and Richt have both turned out to be pretty darn good head coaches. Just a thought!
I'm really scared that LSU has regressed to speaking with Houston Nutt and the focus has been on Bobby Petrino. Petrino was in the middle of double-crossing the "Riverboat Gambler" who helped Petrino garner his noteriety at Auburn. Now, Nuttjob would be like hiring DiNardo all over again. Look at how many times we LSU fans have ragged on the Arkansas folks for the "inmates running the asylum". Nutt's players have had numerous run-ins with the law and their rap sheets run longer than the Mississippi River.
To tell you that I'm really concerned would be an understatement. Peter Finney in the Picayune the other day wrote about timing - well Saban leaving couldn't have come at a worse time. There are really NO great candidates out there, which makes me sad to think we'll have to settle for someone.

Actually at the time Saban was hired I think most of the pundits said who in the hell is this guy. I have to admit that I haven't been impressed with the list of candidates I have seen up to this point but we are still early in the search.
