Years ago, I went to Tipitina's to see the fabulous thunderbird. The second and third sets featured Stevie Ray Vaughan sitting in with them. It was daylight before I got home...a night I'll never forget.
Before Before SRV hit the big time he played pretty regularly at a small club called Chief's in a strip mall about a mile from my house. I saw him there 10 or 12 times. The Thuderbirds played there pretty often too and I saw Albert King there 3 times.
Walked into a bar in Austin in 1979 because I heard this great guitar sound from the streets. Cost nothing to get in turned out it was SRV. He wasn't that well know at that time. Best blues guitarist ever. Thought Kenny Wayne Sheppard might be the next great one but he has kind of drifted away.
I generally hate most Christmas music but nothing exemplifies the spirit of a rock 'n roll Xmas than Chuck Berry.
